Hey, I'm currently in the dreaded l.c and am considering going to queens or university of ulster, and I'm to be frank, confused about how leaving cert points translate to tariff points? for example, how much leaving cert points are 300 tariff points? also how do I apply? do I go through the CAO or what? and any important deadlines? Sorry I sound so clueless :o its just I havent really considered NI universities until now haha!

    Thanks in advance! ;)

You have to apply through UCAS for universities in the UK. For early entry courses (veterinary science, dentistry, medicine, all Oxbridge courses), the deadline has already passed. For everything else, the application deadline is 15th January so for those you still have plenty of time. Having said that, it takes a while to complete your application (UCAS is nothing like CAO) and the earlier you submit it, the earlier you can start receiving offers.

An A1 at HL is 90 tariff points and a C1 is 52 points. So, for 300 points, you'll need about 6 C1s at HL. http://www.ucas.com/students/ucas_tariff/factsheet/ilc

Which course do you want to do? Anything else, just ask :)

Oh right ok! Thanks! ;) Ah for university of ulster, I'm interested in american studies with human resource mgmt, business info. systems, business studies with human resource mgmt, computer science and sociology with human resource mgmt.

For queens, computing with info. tech, web tech and e-commerce, business info.tech, and computer science!
Guess I, gonna have to narrow down my choices! but the prospectuses don't have that much info so if anyone has an opinion on any of these I'd be glad to hear it! :)
