    Barclays Premier League
    Venue: Anfield
    Date: Saturday, 5 November
    Kick-off: 1500 GMT

    Not on TV.

Swansea visit Anfield with the worst Away Record in the PL and Liverpool are unbeaten at home but have drawn 3 games and have already dropped points to another promoted team, Norwich. Considering Swansea have played City, Arsenal and Chelsea Away their record isn't that bad!

Swansea play 4-5-1 Away from Home and it helps their possession, Barcaesque type football, they've one of the highest possession rates in the PL and they can play as well, the 4th highest pass completion rate, way ahead of Liverpool. I think they'll surprise people who haven't seen them play much this season. Players too watch out for are Gower, Sinclair, Dyer and Graham.

Gerrard is out for Liverpool with Carragher doubtful which may be a blessing. Dobbie out for Swansea.

Because Swansea retain possession the onus is on Liverpool to pressurise Swansea in midfield and their back 4. With Carroll in good form a 4-4-2 might be the best option and I'd go for Kuyt on the right, it's a type of game he's needed in. Kenny might leave Carroll out and go a 4-5-1 adding Henderson.

I think he should play Carroll as he's in form and 2 up front gives their back 4 more problems than Suarez on his own. Their back 4 can be dodgy so Downing needs to have a good game.

    I'd go:
    Reina
    Johnson -- Skrtel -- Agger -- Enrique

    Kuyt ---- Lucas ---- Adam --- Downing
    Suarez --- Carroll
Going for a Liverpool win, 2-0, Carroll and Adam to score.

Word on the street says its a 4-4-2 with Carroll & Saurez. Kinda think Downing might benefit from a day off.

Yep, was just looking at my team and thinking Bellamy would cause Swansea problems, they aren't the biggest team around or the most physical, he'd cause them bother.

Given that Swansea's main threat comes from their flanks and the fact they like to play with a three man midfield that tends to compress play in the centre, I think I would prefer to see 4-2-3-1 played as it would stretch them in the centre and allow us to get room when their flanks move up.

    Reina
    Johnson*
    Skrtel
    Agger
    Enrique
    Lucas
    Adam
    Kuyt*
    Suarez
    Bellamy
    Carroll

I would play Kuyt if Johnson is at RB because of the pace and directness of Swansea's left flank. If Kelly was to start at RB, then I would put Downing at wide right.

One thing that is certain is that the Liverpool full backs today had better be on their toes as Swansea have the players to cause problems from wide.

Think it will turn out to be a very entertaining game with plenty of action in both boxes. If Liverpool are on form I think a 4-1 to the reds could happen.

More than that - Bellers is a Cardiff man, so he'll love it, just love it if he scores.

Liverpool have to go 4-4-2. Look at when Wolves did it against them 2 weeks ago, Swansea struggled a hell of a lot more. If Pool press high up the pitch today I see an easy win for them.

Much prefer to see Kelly start ahead of Johnson. Carroll and Suarez up front too.

Gona say 3-1 with downing to finally score

Hmmm if it is a right flank of Henderson and Johnson, then that is an invitation to Swansea to attack on that flank as often as possible. Johnson and especially Henderson will have to up their work rates in defensive terms, and Henderson will have to up his attacking play big time to keep the Swansea LB from overlapping.

    Think it's been confirmed.

4-2-3-1 type formation, but very fluid. It's an attacking team, Henderson will need to put in a shift because as Kess said, Swansea will target there.

Carra didn't make the bench then.

That side did very well at west brom and looked solid so they deserve their chance again, love to see carrol get a home goal.

Okay gonna call 4-0. Carroll x2, Henderson, Suarez.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,311 ✭✭✭✭K-9

Swansea XI: Vorm; Rangel, Williams, Monk, Taylor; Gower, Britton, Allen; Dyer, Graham, Routledge.

Sinclair on the bench is a surprise.

No doubt people will say its part of the deal to buy him in the window.

My worry is that Swansea are a far better team in the wide positions than WBA, and certainly more attack minded, and are very good at keeping possession.

Now their attacking style and wide area strengths could work in Liverpool's favour if the Liverpool fullbacks are on their game as Swansea leave big gaps at the back thanks to the very high line they keep.

Still think Liverpool are good enough to get the 4-1 I predicted earlier, but the right flank does bother me.

Lets hope that Swansea's away form continues today. :)

From the bit I've seen of Swansea and looking at their stats, Gower is the player that makes them tick. Sinclair and Dyer tend to get the plaudits.

Just heard some bad news there....Lawrenson reckons Liverpool will hammer Swansea today :(

Agree that our right-flank could be exposed - Kelly/Henderson or Johnson/Kuyt would be more solid.

Yep am surprised to see him on the bench. but in Dyer and Routledge they still have good wide men on the pitch.

With Britton, Gower, and Allen in the centre they are lacking in height but have a mobile trio that like to play the ball on the ground, and who are very good at using the extra man against a two man midfield.

3-1 To Liverpool.. Downing, Suarez and Carroll.

Suarez to do something which a big deal will be made about and a spike in one off posts in the thread following the Swansea goal.

Its pure laziness if you go lookin for a stream 5 mins before kick off tbh. Rule one in the online streamers guide is to tune in early to avoid disappointment :D

    Get on it.
