US, Britain planning to attack Iran

The British Ministry of Defence is stepping up its contingency plans for a potential military strike against Iran as concerns grow over the Middle Eastern power’s nuclear programme, sources claim.

Reports last night that the UK was prepared to support the United States in any military action against Tehran came as Israel started testing ballistic missiles, raising fears of conflict within the region.

The US is believed to have told the MoD that it may decide to accelerate its plans for targeted missile strikes against key Iranian facilities.

British officials are thought to have told Washington that if it pushes ahead it will receive UK military help for any mission, despite some reservations within the coalition.

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi promises 'brutal response' to any attack on Islamic Republic, tells US to 'think twice before putting themselves on collision course with Tehran.

Yesterday it was revealed that Tel Aviv had successfully test-fired a rocket capable of carrying a nuclear warhead which could strike Iran.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Ehud Barak are reportedly agitating for a pre-emptive attack against the Islamic state.

The Daily Mail is not weird.

Those people who can't make a post without making some sort of reference to the Daily Mail are weird.

And the Daily Mail is a very good newspaper.

It's The Grauniad which is crap.

This maybe just pageantry to force Iran to the negotiation table, But they seem set in their ways of gaining nuclear weapons, so I am afraid war is unenviable.

If there is a war in iran they should just strike the nuclear facilities and military hardware, if they end up striking cities and town's it will end in chaos and become another iraq.

They need to be careful no population should be killed, they should just strike the "threats"

Never heard of that paper but The Guardian is top quality unlike that rag the Daily Mail

Don't see how you find it odd that people question it when the paper has a track record of lying

Out of the 5 links, 1 of them is a link to the Daily Mail's website. You might want to try harder in future when you attempt to be a thanks whore.

The Grauniad is a dire newspaper.

The Daily Mail is a great newspaper. In fact, it's the best British newspaper there is.

The greatness of the Daily Mail and the awfulness of The Grauniad are reflected in the number of people who read each of them. Eight times as many people read the Mail than read the Grauniad and the number of readers of the Grauniad is in sharp decline.

im sick to death of America with their little English puppets interfering in other nations politics. Iran has every right to have nuclear power and weapons. The only nation ever to use nuclear weapons is America and they used them on an already defeated nation in World War II. If America does invade I hope the whole of the middle and far east rises up against them and their war mongering.

Oil reserves in Iran, according to its government, rank third largest in the world at approximately 150 billion barrels as of 2007, although it ranks second if Canadian reserves of unconventional oil are excluded. This is roughly 10% of the world's total proven petroleum reserves.
    There, I said it.

Israel will be the first to strike.

What? Iran has NO right to mess around with nuclear things in the region... only the almighty Israel are allowed that privilege... they'll have their lapdogs in the US and UK governments do their bidding by means of any Iranian attack.
But don't worry, we'll have evidence that Ahmadinejad has developed/acquired a missile capable of threatening W Europe with a nuclear strike a week or so before this happens...

The Middle east is in enough trouble, the last thing we need is a unpredictable country with a evil regime in control of highly dangerous Weapons.

If iran completes it's goal of having a Nuclear arsenal this will only create a middle east arms race spreading all over the middle east. Country after country having control of all sorts of Nuclear weapon's and other highly offensive weapons.

Fear and panic will then spread worldwide, countries near the middle east will also build up and other's will then join to make sure they can compete with their "next door neighbours".

It will all end with a worldwide mass build up of nuclear weapons and worldwide relations will then decrease to rock bottom.

Soon other corrupt countries will then sell nuke's to important members of the population, they will create their own group's to bring other countries to their knees.

There will then come a time where the world enter's the mother of all war's continent's will fight and fall. Then billions will die from nuclear fallout.

Then the world will become a uninhabitable place for human's and creatures and any other living thing in ever born on this planet. Who knows what happen's next? .......

Its the British and the Israelis with their French developed Nuclear weapons (against the nuclear non proliferation treaty pact) that are stoking it up more than the Americans.

Odd, considering the terrible goings on in Syria (a regieme Israel is quite content to see continue on in power and in Bahrain (an ally of Britain and of the US)

So Iran isn't allowed to have nukes but Israel is? I thought there was a treaty stopping the spread of these weapons, some states have given them up at least, Ukraine & South Africa for example ;)

Will this conflict get the support of Russia & China, or will the west go it alone, what about the EU?

Doubt if the population of any of the nations involved will get any real say in all of this, what about the cost? Do people want their taxes spent on more wars & the aftermath?

Seems to me that governments take their orders from anyone but their own people!!!!!

The Russians defeated Nazi Germany in World War Two. They had 12 million military personel killed, the US had 407,000. The German military suffered over 75% of their losses on the Eastern front.
