    Wicked!:D

and i made a wish too!;)

Man they are so hard to see.
I remember the last one I saw. August 2006 (freaky the way I remember the month  )

... its the type of thing where you got to be looking at the sky, at the right time and the right place. Only lasts for 1 second. Like a tiny nick in the night sky.

ya I saw one last year or during the summer I think or last winter I think. didn't see one tonight. Lovely to watch a shooting star, so cool!

Yeah, it was really cool! I was just leaving the dog out for a few minutes in the back garden and seen it. blink and you miss it though.

That "initial excitement" excuse is taking a hammering, unless you're still "initially excited" ?

They were only satellites - it's wrong to wish on space hardware.

well, let's pretend airplanes are shooting stars..... blah blah

Anyway... I just got woken up by dogs and loud banging, had a look my window to see some little feckers robbing a house, called the police and now I'm super paranoid.

Never mind that, what he saw was not a star but merely a rock of piece of space junk burning up.

You don't really ever want to have an actual star in the atmosphere, we'd be pretty ****ed
(well unless you had factor 8 trillion sun cream)

    No-one ever reads the charter.

Not until they get banned or infracted anyway.

Just because no-one reads it doesn't mean it isn't there.

    A shooting star, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The night sky in all it's glory is truly one of nature's wonders, one we rarely get to see. I camped in the Grand Canyon on a clear night and the sky was mesmerising, you get to see a shooting star every minute or so. When you see the night sky without the, so called, city light pollution you understand why the ancients were so fascinated by the stars, it's truly wonderful.

I have to see it again some time.

Isn't it against the charter to be a grammar nazi?

    Also who cares?

    It is in the charter.
    I care.
I try not to bother with people using bad grammar within threads, but when it's in the thread title which I have to see every effing time I open After Hours it bothers me.

What's the big deal about seeing shooting stars? I see them fairly regularly. Is it because you are from urban areas and can't normally see the night sky?

well the last time i saw/seen one, would have been when i was about 10/11 years old, hence my excitement at the time! Its a fairly spectacular sight.

I'm not sure loads of songs with star in the lyrics.

Think I was thinking of this nursery rhyme or something similar or else its something Dora says...

iii. The Child and the Star (after Mother Goose) [ 2 pages, circa 1' 50" ]

    CHILD
"Little star that shines so bright,
Come and peep at me tonight,
For I often watch for you
In the pretty sky so blue.

"Little Star! O tell me, pray,
Where you hide yourself all day?
Have you got a home like me?
and a father kind to see?"

    STAR
"O little Child, at you I peep,
    while you lie asleep;
    But when days break,
    I my homeward journey take.

"For I've many friends on high,
living with me in the sky,
    And a loving Father, too,
Who commands what I'm to do."

Alternatively, I've just seen or I have just seen.

I preferred Saw 1 over Saw 3. The rest are blown way out of proportion.

    mod:

Cut out the goddamned grammar nazi crap please. Thread title changed. Person who told people to f*** off infracted.

Also it is not a star at all. It's a meteoroid that burns up passing through earth's atmosphere.

So that shooting star is now dead. As is your wish.
