Ad says new chain so receipt should be available. If it is all motorway, flywheel probably hasn't taken much abuse but I'd still be checking. Not the best engine option or spec though.

Sorry I didn't read the drop down text in the advert. Advert says the clutch and flywheel were changed 3 months ago but I don't see anything mentioned about a new timing chain. Still makes you wonder why someone would spend money on a new clutch and flywheel only to replace the car and put it up for sale a short time later?

I'd be suspicious of a cheap BMW as they usually end up being expensive ones to own.

At 170k I'd assume it's done, no mention of it but worth the call and asking.

I read it wrong, thought it said new chain instead of new clutch.

Tbh, if it's done that mileage it's either done or it'll keep going

Why can't he afford to run it ?
    €390 tax
    About 40 mpg,
    Little or no maintenance
    Low insurance.

In the end of the day its almost 7 year old luxobarge for 25k. Hybrid at that too.
Don't understand me wrong, its a lovely machine, but its so rare here and if something will go wrong in it, the repair bills will be with triple zeros. Buying one of these is not even an issue, fixing it later might be really costly.

Person #2: "Oh yeah? What's the asking?"
Person #1: "2.2 million. So the photos need to be spot on. Somewhere classy."
Person #2; "Oh - I've got an idea! The local golf course has a shallow lake. And nothing scream expensive class like an absence of dry land."
Person #1: "Perfect. I love it."

I wonder was his last car a Felt spec TDI?

I was scrolling up and thought fcuk someone took a picture of their car upside down for the Ad!

That seems to be how they list all their cars:
    https://www.google.com/search?q=tom+hartley+cars&client=firefox-b-ab&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwixlojPvuLbAhVIOMAKHW-2D0IQ_AUICigB&biw=1920&bih=966

If you look closely at the photos, it looks like the 'pool' has been constructed for this purpose, there evidence of a metal gang way under the surface that the car is on.

Hey had some stock of supercars in fairness... all photographed in a lake bar one or two!

Must be some stocking loan he has or very deep pockets

The lake is purpose-built for those photoshoots but every time I see pictures of their stock I think of whoever is moving the €1M+ car is getting in and out with soaking wet feet :(

Cheers, I owned skyline, subaru wrx, merc clk, mazda mx5, alfa gt and now ibiza cupra. I am no stranger to cars that can go wrong. If I will drive push rod Escort I will die inside.

You can get lucky with car or unlucky. But in my opinion buying such car, without planing to spend money in the future is a bit stupid. You might get lucky, but I wouldn't comfortable if I did not have about 4k put away just for emergencies with the car like this. And I really don't think my buddy could afford this in the long run, knowing his history with cars. I guess context would help.

Choice of two identical cars probably means they were chauffeur cars, not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing. Cheap though!
