Well I know after you die we won't have to look at these kinds of stupid threads that are repeated every few weeks.

Well this is a majority atheist board. So .. most opinions you will have is that nothing will happen.

Our personalities will have no more corporeal existence. I'm going to get scattered though. Rotting is a bit too Catholic for me.

    Is it?

As the users grow older I think that may change, more agnostic I'd say. :)

    Youre going back there.
If by any chance you hang about...well

    Patronising much?

Why exactly would atheists suddenly start believing in makey uppy things as they get older?
A sense of their mortality maybe?
It is possible I guess, but patronising none the less.

You're one of many many people on this world. After we die, the world will carry on. Time stops for no-one.

We lose control of our bowels.
    Then there's nothing.

If you plan on committing suicide, do the ambulance people a favour and take a huge dump beforehand.

Probably depends on the way we die and the emotions at the time, It will the question humans will never find an answer for.

We'll be fed to the worms. After they nourish themselves on our decaying flesh we'll be shat out their rear ends.

In a 1000 years' time they'll dig our bones up and put them on display in some museum as examples of decadent living.

"This example shows very low bone density. She probably lay on a couch watching 'reality TV', a totally retarded activity that passed for recreation at the time."

Because it implies that being atheist is juvenile or 'trendy', and as you mature you will see the light.

Unless you were purely referring to the fact that as people grow closer to death, they may explore ways to come to terms with their impending doom, then I find the comment patronising.

    Personally?

I'm going to have paid executors play an elaborate prank with my body that involves it being found naked in the primate compound of Dublin zoo with a copy of the RTE guide up my bum.

Cost me a fortune to have it arranged.

everyone thinks there funny, where were we 1 year before we were born, well thats where you will be after you die. personally i do think about it but to be honest i try to live my life the best i can do, because if we do rot in ****e when we die then at least live your life now to the best you can, going slightly off the subject, i think people were generally happier hundreds of years ago than they are now. things are very materiel now,

I don't know about after, but before hand I will shout out:

"EVOLUTION WILL NEVER BE PROVEN WRONG, IT IS THE TRUTH. Charles Darwin, you are my God..."

*program appears on TV doubting the theory of evolution, and reflecting about how the speed of light was broken earlier in the century*

    DAMN TREEEEASSSONN!!

    *Generic atheist response goes here*

It's cool though, I can understand different strains of thought. I'd love for a heaven to exist, I'm scared of losing my mentality to nothingness. If there was a heaven however, I'd love to talk to friends and close ones who have passed through the years and have a good time. Maybe in some really swanky mansion, with a huge pool. All the beer, food and games you could want. :)

We'll go to a dive of a pub where there's drunks everywhere and it's St.Paddy's day over and over again. Might be a bit of craic.

Not religious at all, I think alot of people follow religion and believe in heaven out of fear. To each their own of course. Im not far off 21 and in that stage where death seems like an actual issue that pops into my mind and causes a bit of a panic attack at times... Apparently alot of people have that stage at some point?? Lol, i hope its not just me. I like to make myself feel better with the whole past lives/future lives thing...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 976 ✭✭✭Arnold Layne

If buried; we shall wake up in our coffins to realise that death was only stage 1. Then we shall suffocate and actually die and be at Stage 2, the End!

Those of us who are lucky enough to be cremated will not have to proceeded to Stage 2.

Either way, our offspring will grieve.......... and then heap abuse as a result of our spineless response to the debt we lumbered them and their descedents with.

Hopefullly they will piss on our graves as it will be the only way to keep whatever flowers planted in bloom.
