In defence, Arsenal have defenders Carl Jenkinson and Thomas Vermaelen available after being passed fit for the clash.

Yossi Benayoun, who featured in the Carling Cup clash against Bolton last Tuesday, could also make an appearance.

But striker Marouane Chamakh is out with a knee injury while Abou Diaby, Bacary Sagna, Kieran Gibbs and Jack Wilshere all remain sidelined.

Wenger is remaining tight-lipped on suggestions that he will rotate his squad after the success at Stamford Bridge at the weekend.

Marseille manager Didier Deschamps is likely to name an attacking line-up at the Emirates, with Mathieu Valbuena, Loic Remy and Jordan Ayew all expected to start.

Arsenal: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Santos, Song, Arteta, Ramsey, Walcott, Gervinho. Park

RvP on the bench but I'm happy to get another look at Park.

Annoyed that Koscielny isn't starting. Was looking forward to seeing him and TV together

    Park a defo starter??
Excellent, dying to get a look at him.

I'd have left Ramsey on the bench for this one as he has played a lot already this season, the team looks strong enough that he shouldnt be needed. Even if things did go wrong, he and van Persie would have been there as back up.

Bit worried about this match tonight. As poor as Marseille were last time they were low on confidence much like Arsenal. But Marseille have won their last 3 games iirc. Still going for an Arsenal win. Will be tight tho.

Oh looking forward to seeing Park play too. All ive seen is his goal from the CC

I do expect a different game than the last meeting between us and Marseille. Wenger said today that Marseille prefer it when using the counter attack as their main threat. they are not set up to control the tempo of games.

Will be interesting to see how Merte, Vermaelen and Song handle this.

Cant wait to see Park in action.

    COYG!!

    Santos looking ropey defensively.

Slow start so far, Walcott shot saved!!

They can't seem to put two passes together so far. Need to slow it down and retain possession to get into flowing rhythm.

    Chesney's got skillz. :pac:

Knew Ramsey wouldn't score there, I backed him for first goal. :pac:

Is it just me or is Santos a flyer going forward and slow running back?

Santos, does he realise he's a full back?

Looked pretty quick chasing back there at full sprint. Done a bit of damage it looks in the process!

Anyone else notice a big improvement for Arsenal as far as getting players back is concerned?

Thought Ramsey would score there because my bet is gone elsewhere. :pac:

Once again the lack of a natural finisher seems to be the main problem forArsenal.

The confidence id imagine is growing by the day with Arsenal. Vermaelan returning is a plus added with the form of VP and Ramsey.

I hate to say it, but, Park doesnt look all that good to me. Hopefully he's just having a bad game but he's seeing very little of the ball and when he does see it doesnt do much with it. Hopefully he is just having a bad game.

Gervinho getting involved in a lot is a good sign, if only he was able to take the chances he is creating for himself. A few times he has gotten into a good position but lost the ball or his footing.

Happy with Gerv/Walcott. Park looks quite poor tbh, Ramsey's just slightly off being brilliant, he'll get an assist or a goal here no doubt.

Park is getting it hard to get with the pace of the game. He needs to come a bit deeper to receive the ball.

Park is obviously gonna need some time to gel wit the team. Can't be too quick to judge him.

He wasn't bought for set pieces, he was bought because he looks like Fabregas.

Quite an awful joke right here

Did anyone hear a bugle call yet ?
I think the Cavalry will be called with about 20 mins left (maybe earlier).
Capt RVP will ride in on a white charger and save the day.

    Songs having a good game

The commentators on TV3 really are the worst thing to happen to the sport since its creation.

Santos is terrible defensively and park may as well not been on the pitch!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,070 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

Terrible game. Walcott and Jenkinson can't pass. I think we will get a winner though. Great play from Verm. Is it me or is Arshavin's arse getting even bigger ?

Song needs to stop trying so many killer balls so early, is hurting our control of the game so badly

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Really don't understand why Arsenal are not going for this, Marseille are cack. Also, if you win, you're practically qualified and can rest players for the remaining two fixtures.

Hamilton has had a decent game, needs an end product though.
