Resistance Training advice

I was wondering if someone could direct me to some resistance training routines/exercises. Preferable ones I can do outdoors or at home and perhaps some where I can incorporate running. I was thinking of investing in a skipping rope. Can I incorporate skipping? Thanks

EDIT: I was actually thinking of interval training not resistance training. Basically I'm doing a lot of running and I want to introduce some interval training.

Go to a good Personal Trainer, dude. You don't have to go several times per week. Just go once, get a 6 week program that you can do outdoors/at home and then go again after the 6 weeks if you wish. The good thing about going to a PT IMO, is that they can assess your flexibility/weaknesses and address them first before you go clattering into a shed load of exercises and do some damage!

That's where i'd start if I were you. Just post up your location and someone might be able to advise on a location for a good PT.

However, i'm concsious that you originally asked for some exercises you can do at home (and I hate when I ask someone a question and they side-step it!), so with this in mind, check this out:

Simple running intervals like 30 seconds fast, 60 seconds slow for say 10 repetitions might suit you well. There are plenty of other interval routines out there, you just need to google them. This document should get you started.

Thanks for that guys. I'm based in Wexford. I have taken heed of the advice which says cardio alone is not the most efficient way to get in shape. I do enjoy it but I'd like to complement it with some interval training and maybe introduce some basic resistance training too. Perhaps I will go down the PT route. And yes I want to have exercises which I can do at home or outdoors. I probably will go to the gym too down the line but it would be good to have exercises which I could do anywhere.
