    What are your fancys?

So i said i'd get the ball rolling.

I see a lot of people on other web sites think Aidan O'brien will have no winners. however i think he has a very strong team over there.
So You Think has a good draw compared to the impressive favourite Uncle Mo whos drawn in the car park and i really hope he can do it.
i also like await the dawns chances, he is highly regarded by aidan and is american bread.
i was also looking forward to see daddy long legs i like him a lot and think he has a big future but he has been given a bad draw.

What does every1 here think about obriens chances?

So You Think is among Ryan Moore's rides for the Aidan O'Brien stable in the Breeders' Cup at Churchill Downs at the weekend.

The three-times British champion is to team up with the globe-trotting five-year-old in the Breeders' Cup Classic.

Moore has also been chosen by the Ballydoyle operation for Up (Juvenile Fillies' Turf), Homecoming Queen (Juvenile Fillies' Dirt), Misty For Me (Filly And Mare Turf) and Daddy Long Legs (Colts Juvenile Dirt).

However, Moore has been claimed by Sir Michael Stoute to ride Sea Moon in the Turf.

As a result, French-born American-based jockey Julien Leparoux will team up with Await The Dawn. He will also ride Crusade, O'Brien's other runner in the Juvenile Dirt.

Joseph O'Brien will ride St Nicholas Abbey in the Turf.

O'Brien's wife Annemarie announced the latest riding arrangements on her Twitter account.

Moore lands on his feet to say the least. Shame we don't have an irish jockey riding these horses.

O'Brien has a good team going but it's very hard to see which ones to bet on.

So You Think should place in the classic, but will probably find one too good for him.

Daddy Long Legs and Crusade have a chance in the Juvenile but it's a big ask to beat the top american 2y olds.

Wrote will probably place in the Juvenile turf, a race that I think Scat Daddy would have won if he had run in it.

St Nicholas Abbey and Await the Dawn are good enough to win the turf, but they are up against Sarafina my bet of the meeting, I'll forgive her the poor run in the Arc. She's a very classy filly and the French usually have their horses well prepared for this meeting, she only has to give the 3y old colts 1 lb here when she had to give them 5 lb in the Arc.

Play Misty For Me is a very classy filly on her day and she's worth a bet at 9/1, but Stacelita will be a tough nut to crack.

Don't fancy Strong Suit or Goldikova in the mile and think Zoffany at 20/1 could be suited by the strong pace.

Harrisons Cave is a 16/1 shot for the marathon, and it's such a crap race he might just do it.

Up is an another that could go welll at 12/1 in the Juvenile Fillies Turf.

Why is Crusade going over a mile?

I quite like St Nicholas Abbey each way at 7/1.

Can't decide whether or not to back Strong Suit

I see you give your location in California, can you give us the low down on the american horses, we're just winging it a bit with them.

    Good Morning from California... :)
I'll be picking up my copy of the Daily Racing Form today
and I look forward a few hours of studying the past performances.
Folks here are invited to visit UpInClass Racing Forum (USA)
to see what the "locals" are saying about Breeders' Cup weekend.

    In the meantime...
    I'll be looking for longshots!

Uncle Mo wouldn't get beyond a mile in a horse box. Lay him till your hearts content. Any O'Brien horse that traditionally breaks slowly will not have a chance in any race.

cant wait for the breeders , i was at the last one when johannesburg won with the great m kinane on board " i will never forget his famous words " he may have been on the officer but i was on the general"
    bring it on
my tipp " goldikova " and then she will retire i would think.

The American Tote is nearly always better than the bookies sp here
I'd nearly be inclined to wait for the tote price.

Even with Strong Suit they will back Goldikiova and you can be sure 1 of the american horses will be over bet on the tote leaving Strong Suit to go off a bigger price.

I'm not sure robbie the Americans have St Nic at 9/2

Looking on oddschecker the 7/1 is the best out there so maybe take it
but I would'nt mind the american price this early as Im pretty sure all the odds are done by toteover there so
it will all change on the day.

Last year Dangerous Midge was around 10/3 - 7/2 in the morning here and I think around 9/2 here at the off yet it was a steady 9/1 ish on the tote.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

In fairness,I can see why Dangerous Midge would have been so big though.

Americans tend to respect O'Brien's runners and it'll be even more evident this year after Together,Cape Blanco and Treasure Beach all won grade 1's over there

There's a bit of stamina further back on the Dam side of Crusade and as he's american through and through on pedigree they might as well test him out on dirt. Don't think he'll be winning any classics over here next year, so they might as well make hay while the sun shines with him.

Good luck with St Nick, he seems to be in good form and might be the type of horse who likes this time of the year. What do you make of Sea Moon's chances ? He was supposed to be a wonder horse before the Ledger, but he's up against the big boys now. It wouldn't be the biggest surprise if Stoute had him spot on for this. This could be the best race of the meeting.

Thats a good point about O'Brien horses.

Is SNA running on lasix do you know?
If I remember right most of the winners of this race run on it.

Last year Dangerous Midge was yet Bekenbad (spelling) was'nt and I
think horses that ran in the Arc have a bad record in this race.

Back it before I put u off.

For anyone that doesn't have ATR. It's on this website as far as I know, the only problem being that it only gives you 30 minutes viewing per day free.

To get around that problem, you can download cc cleaner for free which will clean the cache and remove the cookies if you run it after your 30 mins is up.

Strong Suit CANNOT win from stall 10. Also I dont think he really gets a mile at the best of times, looks a 7f horse to me.

Richie you don't show your face around here too much at this time of year.

Having looked at a few I think SNA each way in my bet of the meeting, just don't know if I'll actually back anything

Goldikova did it from 11 two years ago and from 10 last year but this is a much bigger negative for Strong Suit. Hughes always takes a pull when they jump and settles him, he won't be able to do that from stall 11 which is a concern.

On his last two performances he shaped as if he would get the mile so I'm sure he will have no problem. Even if he is a 7f horse he would still get the mile on a flat sharp track like Churchill Downs.

If he had a better draw I would probably back him as he is a progressive type, there is a lot of older horses on the wane in this race but Goldikova could still romp this all the same.

Something I can't get over...Strong Suit has a rating of 126. Huge for a horse that hasn't a group 1 win. Far too big

That's exactly what I was thinking, how is he so short in the betting and he hasn't even won a mile race yet. I've been very impressed by his last few races but he came up short in France over a mile. This race suits a 7f type horse, but he's no value. I'm trying to decide between Zoffany and the US Horse Turallure an improving 4y old.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

I wouldn't necessarily say he came up short in France, there was less than a neck covering the three of them in the photo. If anything he's built on that more than Zoffany

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 713 ✭✭✭newuser89

I wouldnt count the french race against him at all.only a neck after all and he took it up a furlong or two out which didnt suit

the ground is fast which will help him get the mile and the more i think about it the more i wanna put a lot of money on him

hughes said today he likes the ground like tarmac and he gave him a gd feel in practice

I hadn't realised Zoffany had run in Keenland and was forgiving the run in Deauville. He's out of the picture on that Keenland run, i'll stick with Turallure he's a nice improving horse and will have a great chance if the first two in the betting have a bad day.

Don't think she's as good as last year myself, she wouldn't have to be to beat this lot and Freddie Head will have her spot on. It's a pity some of the top European Milers didn't make it over, Excelebration would have had a great chance to enhance his status, I thought that Dream Ahead had it in him to step up to a mile here and take this race.

Goldikova is 2/1, in the weakest Breeders Cup Mile field she has faced, from the best draw she has had.

Really like strong suit, obviously the draw isnt ideal, but hoping the extreme negative reaction from Hannon & Hughes was a ploy to push his price out!
Should be an exciting race, Goldikova definitely on the wane so think I'll take her on and reckon hannon/hughes can beat her again!

Have backed So You Think on every start this year since his warm-ups in Ireland, said I won't be backing him again after the Champion Stakes but 9/2 seems a good price and each way bet to nothing in my opinion.

What she has done this year is more than enough to win this

I really didn't like her when she ran behind Immortal Verse at Deauville over the summer.

Didn't look like she had the gears that she used to,and I fancied Dream Ahead to topple her last time. I think she could get found out this year.

I think she'll do it, I don't see Strong suit beating her and the others are just good value outsiders in case she's not up to it.

The more I think about the mile race the more confident I would be of opposing Strong Suit, I really think the draw has blown his chance given his style of racing.

Goldikova hasn't been near her best this year but she has been beaten by top class Group 1 horses, and not by much. Freddie always uses the Prix de la Forêt as a prep race, and she only lost by a head on a day the race record was broken. She will relish the sharp flat track aswell and it is difficult to see what will beat her.

All the races are pretty difficult to dissect but one which I think the bookies have got wrong is Uncle Mo as favourite for the classic. Offspring of Indian Charlie are generally milers who sometimes get 9f, even though he got the 10f himself. Uncle Mo has stamina on the dams side but I still wouldn't be confident of him getting the 10f given his style of running, especially when you consider he has never won past 1 mile 1/16 and his last win was the BC juvenile last year. They should have sent him to the dirt mile where he would have hacked up imo. I have a soft spot for Grace but the price is skinny.

I think she'll do it, I don't see Strong suit beating her and the others are just good value outsiders in case she's not up to it.

in this race i think i'll throw 20 on goldikova as she should win. i think it's obviously been the target this year as it'll be history if she wins, i dont fancy strong suit after the draw. however i might be tempted to throw a 10er each-way on zoffany at anice price. i think there is a big run in him, if they go very fast which will most likely be the case. i liked his run agaisnt frankel this year, O'brien is a master trainer and knows how to ready 1 for a big run.

Does anyone know what happens to goldikova when she retires? the reason i ask is that if coolmore are going to have any involvement in her when she retires i woudnt touch zoffany!!

My main fancys are daddy long legs and await the dawn (i really hope st nicholas abbey doesnt win it I'll be sick the fact that their letting joesph ride it, i hope hes only on it for the sake of having a ride over there)

Really like strong suit, obviously the draw isnt ideal, but hoping the extreme negative reaction from Hannon & Hughes was a ploy to push his price out!

Definitely not, it is an appalling draw for Strong Suit based on how he rides. Even discarding the draw he still has Group 1 form to stand to so I would be extremely cautious to anyone getting stuck into him.

I haven't read anything about who she'll be sent to. I doubt she'll be sold as a broodmare, don't think the owners need the money.

It'll be interesting to see who she is sent to. Anyone have any preferences?

Does anyone know of any good Danehill Dancer Anabaa crosses? I'd love to see her bred to a speedy stallion

Freddie Head said recently he thinks it will be Galileo.

That's a strong possibility given the Galikova connection. Her dam was sent to Dansili for her last mating and given that Dansili is out of the outstanding broodmare Hasili, they might want to keep the broodmare line going.

Galileo's broodmare isn't half bad either. Plenty of stamina on Galileo's side, wonder would she be a 10 furlong foal

An 8f to 12f type like Galikova, but a neater type with a bit more speed.

Speedeier than Goldikova given that Goldikova doesn't really get more than a mile. Couldn't see it staying a mile and half,Guineas and Prix Diane filly if it were one I'd say

If she was a really good one she'd get 1 1/2M, just like Sea The Stars and Zarkava, Class lets them go further than they should.
