Is Google street view filmed from a car camera? I thought it was satellite but see here

Can one prevent ones house from being on it? I see most car regs are blurred but some are not. And in one view last week a lady pushing a child had face blurred but the child's face was not

They've got cars and trikes to take photos, they use the trikes for areas the cars can't get to.

It's definitely a car. Satellite would make no sense. You can request a blurring of faces and regs by going to the Streetview location and hitting "Report a problem" at the bottom of the image

All the Streetview images are cars (or as pointed out above, trikes). Satellite technology can not give you anything close to what StreetView gives you

Google Earth images i.e (Overhead Images) are taken by a satelitte.

Google Street View images are taken from a multi lensed camera on top of a car or trike.

These Cars did go around every road and cul de sac in Ireland.. believe it or not

    From: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120660/quotes?qt=qt0298667
[the NSA team is watching satellite footage of a conversation between Dean and Brill on a rooftop]
Hicks: Can you get a feature scan and pattern matching on him?
Van: No, he's smart, he never looks up.
Jones: Why does he have to look up?
Fiedler: The satellite is 155 miles above the Earth. It can only look straight down.
    Jones: That's a bit limited, isn't it?
Van: [Sarcastically] Well, maybe you should design a better one.
    Jones: Maybe I will idiot.

Move the mouse to somewhere further up the road where it places a white circle on the ground. Clicking will take you directly to that point, much faster than going screen-by-screen
