I get this message for any electronic goods that I put in my basket.

We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order by changing its quantity to 0 and clicking the update button below.

It allows me select books etc and problem only with electronic goods. Last time I bought electronic goods from Amazon was in July and I had no problem.

Are you sure all goods you want to purchase are actually from amazon? I purchase electronic goods off amazon all the time with no problems.
I also tried to purchase the bundle and no messages came up about not being able to dispatch to my address.

    Correction:
It seems to be that this might only be happening when you purchase from one of the shops within Amazon as distinct from Amazon itself.

Wouldn't I be correct in saying Amazon bill in sterling no matter what? Your essentially using a conversion live on the webpage?

    t & C, especially in Bold.

If you use Amazon Currency Converter to pay in your Card Currency, all fees and charges for your use of Amazon Currency Converter are included in the exchange rate received by us from our bank service provider ("Applicable Exchange Rate"). The Applicable Exchange Rate is determined at the time the payment total is displayed in your Card Currency on the final checkout page on the Site. That payment total will be the amount reflected on your bank or credit card statement. We do not charge any other fees, taxes or other charges for using Amazon Currency Converter. Although in some cases your bank may still charge you a fee. The seller of the items you pay for in your Card Currency will receive payment for those items in GBP as listed on the Site. Your use of Amazon Currency Converter and these terms and conditions are independent of your contract for the purchase of the items from the seller and do not give you any extra rights under that contract. The seller is neither involved in providing the Amazon Currency Converter nor a party to these terms and conditions.

Yep website knacked on the euro conversion. probably save 70 euro, you need to add the exact items at the same time and have euro conversion turned on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,584 ✭✭✭TouchingVirus

Not quite knackered though, because if you go into your order history it shows up at ~€261

You can bet the higher charge will be posted to your cc and you'll have to send back if you don't agree. I dont think 70 euro would be worth the argument and hassle

I don't believe you're right though, I agreed to their EUR misprice, and they send me an acknowledgement via email. If they dispatch on that then I think I'm in the clear, would probably argue with it some of the way anyway, can save me €50.

No it wouldnt accept the card details >:/
so hard to use the Credit card...Accepted that no problem! Was tryin to avoid using it at all costs.

maybe try getting one of them prepay mastercard credit cards, be handy for amazon and ebay and all that stuff plus you only spend what you have on the card?

Thanks for the reply:) I don't know much about those 3 v cards but hear they're a rip-off. I had a visa credit card but closed the account because i was spending money i didn't have and putting myself in debt. At least with the pre-pay cards you know what you spend. I'll find out more about the 3v card...

The order confirmation page lists the same price as your email did, and that's what's binding according to the T&C of the Amazon Currency Converter. At least that's where my argument is going to come from.

If its on an email that's all you have to pay. If they charge more get a chargeback done for the difference by your cc company. Quite straight forward as they are essentially charging you more than you agreed to.

I've done it in the past when they tried to overcharge me.

I think the VAT to be displayed there would've been in GBP, but because it's being shipped to Ireland and thus playing Irish VAT, the GBP value would be 0.

That's my take on it anyway. :o

The OPs link is leading to a bundle page but the offer is now £199.99 with either one game or XBL 12 months, and HDMI cable

Just a quick update, received a dispatch notice this evening confirming I was charged the full price. Quick chat with Amazon.co.uk and all was sorted, a refund will be issued.

    It was a bargain at €260, at €212 it's a steal - thanks OP :D

i rang up there and person was on about xbox live this and that. Couldn't really hear her as the line was bad quality.

They kept talking in pounds and i was like I ordered in euro's so i don't care about pounds I just want to now what I am been charged in euro.

On about sending an email to me so will take a look at that before contacting them again I feel.

Does this sound familiar to you others on here?

My order is in Crymlyn Burrows Swansea UK since last night. Presume it will be on the ferry sometime over the weekend

Don't call them, use the Amazon.co.uk live support chat.

In your initial communication just say that there appears to have been a mistake, you have an order confirmation saying your order was €X, but the dispatch note says you've been charged €Y. They'll get you to confirm your name & billing address and hold on while they check the mistake. Then they should inform you that due to a technical error you've been overcharged and they're going to issue a refund (in GBP, but the currency converter will apply the same rate of exchange so it'll work out to €Y-X). Then you're done, happy days. My issue was sorted in 5 minutes :)
