Sorry to interrupt your day, but I just got that stupid MacDonald's ad with the annoying 'but I don't want you to be an astronaut' kid.

The parents turn into kids when they go into MacDonald's and turn back to parents when they leave.

    Who'd have thunk it?

I hope the kid (who says his dad is a truck driver) enjoys the fee he recieved as it will be scant consolation for the intense bullying he will face later in life.

I don't think you're quite getting the gravity of my astounding, and yet little known, observation.

Turning on your tv was probably your first mistake.

McDonalds are one of the world leaders at creating brand loyalty among children. Customers for life and all that.

That is not the ad in question.

The head-wreck is in the one I've described.

I guess I've eaten in a McDonald's at most two or three times in my life, although I'm getting close to seventy. Or maybe that's how I've managed to extend my lifespan.;)

The one ad slogan of theirs that has stuck in my mind is "Where's the beef?", so I really found it amusing to see a big sign outside their branch in Connaught Place in the centre of New Delhi. It said: "We guarantee that our food contains no beef".:p

Why did you have to mention your age?

Now I just can't bring myself to type what I really want to say.

    For shame!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,030 ✭✭✭✭Chuck Stone

That is not the ad in question.

My sincere apologies for straying from the OP.

I hang my head in shame for being so egocentric.

    Please forgive me good Sir.

"Where's the Beef" was an advertising slogan for the Wendy's fast food chain. AFAIK McDonald's never used it.

I stand corrected. Thanks. I really thought it was McDonald's.

I also remember a crack after someone shot a dozen or so people in a McDonald's in the USA years ago: "If the gunmen don't get you, the food will."

BTW, they use chicken instead of beef or pork in the Indian McDonald's. I went a couple of blocks further on and had an excellent meal of real food in a Muslim restaurant.

I am not fond of the McDonald ads, I just don't like the image they're trying to set up for themselves, I tend to avoid McDonald's as a result.
