Team news for Tuesday night's Carling Cup fourth-round clash between Aldershot and Manchester United at the Recreation Ground.

Aldershot go into their blockbuster showdown with giants United injury-free and in high spirits.

Dean Holdsworth's experimental line-up at Dagenham put paid to a run of four straight defeats in League Two, resulting in a dramatic 5-2 victory.

Striker Adam Smith made his full debut since joining on loan from Mansfield and is likely to continue against the Red Devils after setting up Jermaine McGlashan for his first goal of a brace against the Daggers.

The EBB Stadium is expected to be close to its full capacity of 7,100 as Shots fans flock to see Sir Alex Ferguson's Premier League champions, fresh from a shock 6-1 defeat at the hands of fierce rivals Manchester City.

Michael Rankine and Danny Hylton scored the goals that saw off the threat of Rochdale in the third round, and the latter will be looking to register his 11th goal in all competitions.

Ferguson is set to make a host of changes to his United side.

Nemanja Vidic, who sat out Sunday's game following his sending-off in the Champions League win over Otelul Galati, is among those who could come back into the team, along with Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov.

Jonny Evans is suspended after his red card in the City game.

Man United (from): De Gea, Lindegaard, Amos, Smalling, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Fabio, Jones, Park, Carrick, Fletcher, Valencia, Nani, Anderson, Young, Owen, Berbatov, Macheda, Diouf, Hernandez, Rooney, Welbeck, Pogba, W Keane, Brown, M Keane, Thorpe, Fryers, Cole.
I hope we give a run out to plenty of young lads tonight, although from the list above Cleverley, Rafael and Morrison are not included, I don't know if that's accurate though? I'd like all 3 of them to feature.
I predict 1-4 United, possible line up...
    Lindergaard
    Smalling Fryers Vidic Fabio
    Valencia Carrick Pogba Giggs
    Berbatov Owen

Almost utterly pointless trying to predict a United line up for tonight, it could be anything.

I would imagine Vidic, Lindegaard, Berbatov and Owen will play, beyond that I am not sure. I reckon Cleverley will play, and there is a good chance Pogba will be involved, though who knows if he will start. Morrison tweeted yesterday that he was really looking forward to today, so that could be an indication that he may be involved tonight.

    Looking forward to it anyway.

    Boss makes plans for Shots

Sir Alex is planning on taking a similar squad to Aldershot to the one that was on duty at Leeds in the previous round of the Carling Cup.

The right blend of youth and experience will be utilised for the EBB Stadium encounter against Dean Holdsworth's League Two side.

"At the moment, I've got a really strong squad," he told MUTV. "We took 23 players to Romania with us and left Rio [Ferdinand] behind because we weren't planning to use him in that game.

"So, with a squad of 24 players, some of them have to have games. Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov must have games.

"It'll be similar to what we did at Leeds, really. All [the youngsters involved at Elland Road] will be travelling with us.

"Young players emerge and take someone's position. It's happened time and time again at this club and I've experienced it over my 25 years. You see a young emerging star coming through the youth team, and then comes the Reserves and, before you know it, you say why don't you put this boy in the first team.

"It's down to temperament. That's important, and ability, courage and determination. They're all the factors we need for top players at United."

Sir Alex was speaking to MUTV's Matchday Live, which starts at 18:30 on Tuesday.

Hopefully the team will be able to take out the frustration of the City match on Aldershot. If they do, I'm predicting an absolute thumping. 6-0.

Is Cleverly fit yet? We were severely lacking in midfield creativity on Sunday, could really do with him back in the team.

if utd dont win this game 10 nil, it will be another disgrace, and he should follow sven :pac::pac:

There is not alot Cleverley would have done to help on Sunday in fairness.
Hopefully he gets a run out tonight. If not I can't see him getting on the teamsheet for Everton away.

I think Aldershot scored 5 goals the wekend so it is an easy win for Aldershot.
I bet he won't put his money where his mouth is though!

Cleverley is not fit, not in the squad as far as I know (open to correction though).

Will still be a fairly strong United team and Aldershot will do well to keep it to 3 or 4. Nice for them to get a game like this though, and the bit of extra money makes a big difference to small clubs like them. But it should be a comfortable United win.

Please please please let UTD be comfortably infront by half time, then we can unleash Pogba & Morrison. :D

It's quite strange having no senior players on the bench at all.

Theyre all hiding the bruises from Fergies beating after Sunday

True but I was referring to those who are likely to come on, De Gea won't play unless Amos is sent off or injured, De Gea is just there by default. Where as if by some miracle we're chasing the game we have no experienced outfield players available.

I'm happy Diouf is starting, he did really well against Leeds, hopefully he'll impress tonight.

Amos, Fabio, Jones, Vidic, Fryers, Valencia, Cleverley, Park, Diouf, Owen, Berbatov.

Subs - De Gea, Vermijl, Keane (x2), Pogba, Cole, Morrison.

Decent team should win, the League Cup seems to be good for Michael Owen, but not for Berbs who hasn't scored a single goal in either domestic cup for Utd

3-0 United. Owen x2 and Berba to get the goals.

Breaks my heart to see Berbatov playing tonight. Reduced to Carling cup football, our top scorer last season and a quality player with amazing technical skill, he's better than this. It must be so frustrating for him.

I'm not ranking our strikers or having a pop at team selection but he should not be starting Carling cup games only and not PL and CL games.

    Breaks my heart.
