Help with next steps to getting fit

After too many years being significantly overweight I have finally tried to do something about it.....

Started about 8 weeks ago, 17 stone 10, 6'3 - as of today am 15 stone 10. I want to get to around 14 stone.

Mainly achieved through diet (below) & cardio (3-5 mile run 3 times a week, approx 9:30 per mile)

    Typical Diet:

    B/Fast: Weetabix x 2
Lunch: Either soup and slice of wholemeal bread or chicken sandwich & apple
Dinner: Prawns / Chicken + loads of veg.

Not snacking or eating potato routinely. Maybe 1 cheat meal a week.

Next steps: Maintain weight loss but want to build strength (pretty non existant at the moment - struggle with 2 sets of 10 pushups.....) Want to try and tone a little as I get smaller....

I plan to continue with diet & cardio above. What would be good to supplement this with to build strength from low base? Could go to gym (once maybe twice a week) but would be happy with body weight exercises to do at home either.

    Thanking you.....

P90x or insanity would be worth looking into. If you want to try a gym routine then look into starting strength. You'll make the most progress with compound lifts like squats, benchpress and deadlifts. You'll want more protein in your diet if you pick any of the above. Tuna works, so do protein shakes

strength training with the compound exercises would be great step to take, you would be better to change up your cardio programme slightly your body will stop responding if your doing the same cardio at the same pace all the time, add in hill running or short sprints just to change it up a little
