Tolka river in drumcondra (opposite shelbourne fc staduim) is on the verge of overflow, so thats drumcondra, whitehall and other commuting routes into city centre tomorrow are at risk.

for anyone with TMC enabled on their satnav, theyve been pretty good on declaring roads flooded in the last while so if you havent started using TMC yet id reccomend it

Outside the gym and astro park on Greenhills road, the lane approaching tallaght village was flooded pretty bad at 5.30, probably worse now.

N81, approaching the m50 from tallaght, at the roundabout before the m50 and Esso garage, two lanes are merging into one to avoid flooding in the hard shoulder and driving lane, overtaking lane was still ropey enough at 6ish.

For the love of god please nobody post any drifting videos :D

Just off the N7 southbound it's down to one lane at kill. And I would not be surprised If it closes soon as that lane has about a foot of water in it. all it will take is one car to get stuck under that bridge and the whole motorway will be shut.

3 hours from Newlands cross to Naas

Park West > Killeen Rd > Ballyfermot > Le Fanu Rd really bad - cars having to drive on the pavement to get by.

Also people - slow the fúck down through water. I was very grateful for a rear engined car after having to pass the fools who thought their car was a boat. Twice had my windscreen completely submerged when passing absolute morons blasting through at 20mph+

Also just cus you have a jeep how about copping the fúck on about passing other vehicles/cyclists/pedestrians at speed through water.

    Anyone see a Guard????

And while we are at it why do we have to put up this sht everytime it rains in Dublin...we need these!!

Second that on speed. Bad enough trying to keep the plugs dry without some eejit causing a tidal wave.

How's the n3 (navan rd)? Black horse avenue? Traffic is barely moving so I assume people are stuck!

It baffles me how we get flooding like this with a major river, next to the sea!!

What are DCC engineers actually doing when it comes to flood defence apart from bollox notions about sea wall defences at Clontarf.

They can't even keep drains working.

thanks Balfie. I would have been on that route in 24 mins in a peugeot 206 from nangor road. balls! Any idea what the best alternative route is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,300 ✭✭✭PixelTrawler

Just got a call from my GF, shes in Kilmanhainm near the Calmac river.
She came home from work to find the car flooded. She says its well up into the bonnet. The basement in the apartments is flooded but the floodwall has kept it back from the ground floor apartments.

She only has the car a month!

She reckons the cars a write off

The traffic and street lights are out on the Milbrook Road / Tongalee Road junction.

On the Kilbarrack Road, underneath the railway bridge is impassable, there appeared to be a van stranded there.

I went out and came back in!

Very deep flooding on the north bound lane exiting slane, artic truck with the front panals hanging off stopped just after it so it must be deep to do that to a truck.

Also between slane and collon there is a dip in the road which is completely flooded, if the rain continues it'll be impassable very soon if it isn't already!
