What Do you think it will be like in the year 10,000 AD

So as the title suggest what do you think the world will look like in the year 10,000 AD ?

Will we have star trek / the jetsons type cars floating around or will there be teleporters ?

Will continental drift have brought the USA / Europe together etc
    ??

Do you think the human race will even be around in 7989 years, what will the population be like - at the mo it's at 7 Billion

will we have populated other planets or just build skywards like New York

These are the questions that keep me up at night and if you look at the technological revolution which has skyrocketed since the industrial revolution in only the last 100 - 150 years it would be amazing to see the year 10,000

So what technology do you think will be around, do you think humans will still be around and what will the place look like ?

Hopefully we'll have copped on that there's no fairy-creator man in the sky and stop killing each other for the sake of a book. Then again, perhaps some massive catastrophe will occur and bury us all, only for future archaeologists will find the Harry Potter series.........

It'll be the exact same as it is now except worser and far badder.

Humans will always find something to differ on and fight over

This idea that mass-atheism/ denouncement of religion would solve such problems is as silly as religion itself

I think we'll be rutting like animals in the ashes of our fallen civilisation. The potato will evolve to be the dominant life form.

humanity will either become a space faring race, or will eventually perish in one way or another. life on earth will always persist and continue to evolve though.

What it means to be human will change in time also as we develop new tools and machines to extend our physical limitations. this will accelerate as early as in the next few decades. when I was a kid it was unaffordable to make a 10 minute overseas call, now the worlds poorest people can talk to anyone for next to nothing.

I don't believe the speed of light can be surpassed for fragile physical matter such as a person. but if a signal can be transmitted faster than light, we can transmit our DNA, genetic code across the universe with instructions on a suitable environment and atmosphere.

who knows, If you like thinking about this kind of stuff, check out anything by Arthur C Clarke,, the ascent of man, and cosmos.

I don't see how? At least not as widespread and pointless.

Fighting for resources isn't *really* pointless...

Arseholes will probably have been superceded by then, and people will have antique ones on display in glass jars on their shelves.

There'll be a long, bitter interplanetary war between humans and thinking machines. Humans will make martyrs out of those who died under the robots' evil regime.

So yeah, religion might not die out if Frank Herbert is anything to go by.

I heard recently that cern "believe" they have broken the speed of light, hence broke Einstein's theory on the fastest thing in the universe.
If we had the ability to travel at the speed of light & had a ship I don't see why we couldn't travel at that speed. Obvioulsy our fragile bodies would be put under stress but what if you slowly built up the speed in the ship so you wouldn't "feel it" similiar to how the TGV / bullet trains slowly build up to top speed.

The same would have to be said for the breaking / slowing the ship down of course

We'll have to have colonized other habitable planets by then. According to some guy I heard say this once, "By 25th of September 2010, the human race had used up 100% of the natural resources the planet produces in a year". If we keep going at this rate we'll have destroyed the planet and the human race if we don't venture out.

The whole time travel thing, if you think about it why hasn't anyone in the future come back to our time right now to warn us if we eventually destroy the planet by what we are doing with it now?

    *queue dramatic music......*

    DUN DUN DUNNNNN!!!!

There's a simple explanation for that. Since the future will / might be a space faring nation "The Prime Directive" would kick in which forbids any species to interfer with any other species during time travel hence why no one from the future has come back here but..... I wasn't talking about time travel in the first place !!

Serious Answer - Will definitely have had one Apocalyse by then. They'll look back at the 100 years from WW2 ending as the golden age.

After Hours Answer - Men (having become redundant) will have been bred out and Earth will be renamed planet Lesbos

The human race won't survive to 10,000 AD (IMO).

The earth will either be completely destroyed or have an almost uninhabitable climate, with the only surviving species being those which are very small and quick to grow, basically r strategists.

I could list a load of things that could wipe us out by then, but honestly I'd say that if we don't come up with cold fusion pretty soonish, energy-hungry panicked countries are going to just start warring with everyone until there's nothing left.

Before our decline, I imagine the Irish government will go through a series of plans, none of which will work. Things like "eat grain Fridays", "the cold hour", and giving out free iPads (the most recent version of course) to all the politicians to save on paper waste!

What an absolute cop-out of a statement. You might as well say that the existence of religion is justified solely on the basis that it provides for humanity's inherent desire to conflict with each other.

Assuming we do not wipe ourselves out or get destroyed by a natural disaster.

If technological advancements increase at the rate they are currently we will likely have merged with technology to the point of self evolving. Spread out to other worlds with a massive increase in life span and population. We may very well be utilising the energy from the sun or suns to fuel our advanced civilisation.

Religion would be replaced by a united goal of bettering ourselves and understanding the universe.
