Hopefully can get back to winning ways in the league this Sunday. Am guessing the team could line up as follows:

    Brad
    Walker Kaboul Bassong BAE
    Modric Sandro Parker Bale
    VDV
    Adebayor

Subs: Cudicini, Defoe, Lennon, Rose, Livermore, Townsend, Pav.

Any word or updates on Piennar and Gallas?

I'm sick of these bloody Sunday games.

Anyway, we have to win this. They are a poor side at the moment, and regardless of our injuries, we are a better side, in better form.

I don't think he will play Luca on the wing. The game last week turned in our favour when he moved towards the middle so rafa on wing. Ade and Defoe up top

Nah raf on the wing leaves us exposed.

Agreed. Either Defoe or VDV up front with Ade. Modric in the middle with Parker.

Huge 3 points needed today. Newcastle won again and pool dropped points.

Agree we coulod do badly with the 3 points. Last week was so frustrating. When we look good, we look really good but only in patches.

For some reason I am not too optimistic on this one. Can see a 0-0. Hope I am wrong.

    Team today is...
    Brad
    Walker kaboul bassong BAE
    Lennon Parker modrice bale
    Vdv
    Adebayor

PAV Defoe cudicini Rose Townsend livermore and Sandro on the bench

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,932 ✭✭✭SuprSi

Hopefully Bale stays on the left. There's a lot of pace on the wings in that team. Defoe can feel a little hard done by considering he scored from open play last weekend, but he's a nice sub to bring on after 60 or so.

    I'm terrified I can't watch

Hehe me too. I can't watch the steam so I'm keeping tabs on the BBC updater and hate seeing the Goalflash warnings appearing! Only a few minutes left though so hopefully the lads can hold on.

I don't know why but I'm always like this except when we're playing the top 3/4 teams because because we always expect to win these games :(

Didn't realise how well were doing this season. Hold on and win our game in hand and were 1 point behind Utd.

Bloody delighted with that result. Exactly the type of game we were losing/drawing last year. Ahead of Liverpool now with a game in hand. Never mind Newcastle, they won't be so high flying even after Christmas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,932 ✭✭✭SuprSi

That's another great result. 4 wins and a draw in our last 5 games, super stuff. Doing really well after a crappy start and City's hammering of Utd today puts their result against us into perspective.

    Get in there :D

Can this day get any better?:D

Huge win there, Aresnal, Pool & Newcaste all won this weekend so we gotta keep touch with them.

Is this the best PL run we have ever had? 5 wins and a draw from 6?

Good win. Don't forget what happened to arsenal here. We were ropey at the back but held on

    Where is gallas???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,932 ✭✭✭SuprSi

Pool only managed a draw at home to Norwich, which is why we go ahead of them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

My mistake, I mean liverpool dropped points.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

With chelsea losing, we'd be level with Chelsea in 3rd if we won our game in hand (depending on goal difference)

It's great to be honest, and we've already played City, Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal. If the lads can keep grinding out results like today over the next few weeks they'll be doing really well!

On the one hand this is a great result as Ewood is a tricky place to get 3 points and as someone else said, these are the type of games we drew/lost last year.

On the other hand, if we cant go to the club which is bottom of the table and bottom of the form charts and get 3 points then we can forget about of top half finish nevermind a top 4 place.

All that been said, any points we can pick up while Bassong and Kaboul are our CB's are going to be precious!!

Why do people on here dislike kaboul and bae? Every other spurs forum I visit is the complete opposite to here, including my mates who are spurs fans too. Kaboul is a beast!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,944 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

Kaboul definitely has the making of a great player, the more game time he can get with King the better.

The only thing that annoys me with BAE is his inability to stop crosses coming in, he’s usually too far away to block the ball and just leaves a trailing leg out.

Both are prone to lapses in concentration, and against the top clubs you’ll get murdered for lack of indecision. I wouldn’t swap either of them though.

I think donkey was referring to the fact that bassong and kaboul have not played too often together and that he would feel more secure if a fit king/gallas or daws were alongside Kaboul. Kaboul has been very good, your right. He's a little naive at times but he is certainly improving.

BAE is solid as you can get. Yes, he makes a booboo every so often but as I have said before, there is not many left fulls in the league you would take ahead of him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,749 ✭✭✭irishmover

I think that BAE's positives far outweigh the couple of weaknesses he does have, and can agree completely that he can be poor at defending crosses. But yesterday, I thought he was immense. He's such a threat going forward and quite often starts off attacks which have lead to goals.

Kaboul before he first joined was french u21 captain and a superstar in the making. I remember watching him play st. pats in a friendly years ago and thought my god this guy is going to be immense. The it went pear shaped and he moved to portsmouth. But since he came back he's been a completely different player. He's certainly getting close to the hype that was around him before his first spell at the club.

He would be the successor to king for me. I think him and sandro would have a fine battle over the armband come next season (if both are still at the club). He has his dodgy moments too, with jumping in where he shouldn't but he does them much less often than he used to.

As for Bassong, I read a comment on sky sports last week saying he was Newcastles best centre half for decades. Guy must have been joking.

    Thats exactly what I meant.
Kaboul is decent as long as he's along side Daws, King or Gallas but along side Bassong - Forget it.

I think if Kaboul was going to become a top class CB then we would have seen it by now.

Dont rate Dawson at all. Far too over rated at the club imo. For me he should be 4th choice cb.
