Spinach

Is fresh spinach (baby spinach leaves) much better than the spinach you get in a tin, e.g. Roma tinned spinach? The tinned stuff is so much handier for cooking, but I'm guessing it's not as good for me!

Also, how does frozen spinach compare, and where do you get it? I know it exists, but I always look out for it when I'm shopping and I haven't yet found it anywhere.

    Thanks!

I think it tastes better, and probably has more vitamin C, but the rest should be similar. Whatever makes it easy to eat more spinach is good for me. And the tinned is much easier as an ingredient.

You should be able to get frozen easily. I certainly saw some in Dunnes recently. It handles like the tinned.

I would imagine that the tinned version has salt added.
Frozen spinach is much better value than fresh IMO. You get far more. I even grew it this year and still found the frozen spinach more value.
    And here's how I cook it -
Put some butter and chopped garlic in a saucepan over a lowish heat. Add the frozen spinach and put the lid on. Stir occasionally, then take the lid off to allow some of the steam to evaporate. The butter and spinach juice makes a delightful sauce.
    Popeye, eat your heart out.:p
