Pinched nerve

I should've asked my doctor really, but I'm hoping you guys have more experience of it. I started a new weights routine last Saturday and did something to myself, short story short I've got a pinched nerve in my neck resulting in a sore arm and some discomfort. Manageable, and need to work out what to do if it continues, but that's not my issue.

My issue is, in the meantime, can I continue to exercise? I'll drop the weights for a while and anything that aggravates the pain will stop aswell, but I suspect I'll be able to cycle, run, do floor work etc as normal. I read somewhere that continuing to exercise might even help as it may work the muscles around the nerve a bit more, but really I just don't want to turn back into a lard-ass.

    Anyone had a similar problem?

PS I did Google, but all I found was exercises to avoid or alleviate pinched nerves, which is not what I'm after here. I'm after exercises to remove the big fat belly, the pinched nerve is just an extra annoyance.

Internet strangers dont really have the power to diagnose you in fairness. Get it checkout out OP. Better to be safe.
