I've started a new diet and workout program the last few days and its going great. This is where I always have trouble. Going out. I have to go out to a 21st on Friday and I have to go because this guy came to mine.

I'm worried about missing a meal and not getting a good sleep. I'm trying to build muscle mass and every meal is important to me as well as sleep.

How do you guys deal with your social life while trying to stay dedicated to your fitness goals?

I tend to avoid drinking or drinking only a pint. That way I go home and sleep well and because ive no hangover I can hit the gym early.

In terms of food, cook something you can freeze or put in the fridge the night before and then its all done for you. Alternatively do all the prep work so all you have to do is fire it in the oven.

If your destined to "Go Mad" then make sure you make up for it by working hard afterwards. Like a give and take situation. Your always going to have to have a reward time otherwise you wont last the course.

I'm interesting in hearing about this too. There is a very fine line between fitness and diet taking over your life in a (mentally) unhealthy way, and being dedicated I think.

Honestly, i'd say go out and enjoy yourself! Just don't go insane! If you don't learn to have fun during your new lifestyle you'll quickly end up going back to your old habits.

Just make sure that after the hangover is gone and you're back to normal that you get straight back into things again and don't reflect on the thought 'I've had a night off, all my goals are ruined'.

I tend to go out for a feed of pints every Saturday night to unwind myself after a week of office hell, spend Sunday hungover, preparing meals for the week and doing my best to get rid of the hangover and rest properly so i'm able to be in good condition for Mondays session.

If I'm going out with the lads, I eat before I head out. Then I have a good night and enjoy myself. The next day I have a nice sleep in, maybe watch a bit of TV and have breakfast in bed etc.. ;) and then head to the gym with or without a hang over.

    Go out and enjoy yourself..

1 night out is not going to throw your whole diet and hard work out of wack, just get back on track again sunday or monday..

Learn to incorporate the gym and healthy eating with your social life, don't dump one for the other..
