Does the 'check disk for errors' process from disk properties generate a log like it used to ? I've just done a surface scan (phase 4) on a disk and it just said it was complete, but I'd like to know, did it find anything and fix it, or not find anything ?

Hav a look at Event Viewer in Admin Tools (You get this in the control Panel)
