Failure to register a business name

    Hi, just a quick question.

What are the penalties for failing to register a trading name with CORE/ the CRO?

If an limited company trades under a number of different business names, without ever having registered any of these names, from whom might one seek a remedy? The ODCE? And under what legislation?

    Thanks in advance

To answer my own question, this is a matter for the CRO, and not the ODCE. The ODCE take no responsibility for the failure to register a business name, even when that business name is used by an incorporated company.

Incorporated companies or individuals who fail to register a business name may be liable to a fine.

    Source: ODCE
