    Otelul Galati

In their first ever Champions League campaign, Otelul Galati have fallen in a tough group consisting of some of Europe’s heavyweight contenders. Their loss to Basel came in the final minutes after they gave away a penalty, while their loss to Benfica was by a single goal. On those accounts, Bucharest’s Galati isn’t a team to take lightly. The Romanian champions are having a season to forget this season in domestic competition with 12 points in 10 matches seeing them standing in 9th place. Coach Munteanu will realize a point is a must against Man United, and he will aim to keep his players focused ahead of the club’s first match against English opposition.

    Man United

Alex Ferguson surprised everyone with the lineup he fielded in the North-West derby on Saturday, resting many of his key players. Only he will know the real thought process behind such a decision, but resting some of his big names after a grueling week in which they’ve had to play for their national sides does make some sense considering the upcoming Champions League match tomorrow and the big derby coming up this weekend against Man City.

We have seen time and again that Ferguson likes to mix up his sides as he keeps his players fresh, and there’s already been confirmation that Rio Ferdinand will not feature against the Romanian champions. Expect some rested players from the 1-1 draw against Liverpool in Berbatov, Anderson, Vidic, Fabio, and Valencia as well as possible cameo appearances from the deadly trio of Nani, Rooney and Hernandez. After collecting only 2 points in their opening 2 games, the upcoming Manchester United vs Otelul Galati clash no doubt is a must-win for the Red Devils.

    Prediction 0-3 for me

Well, guess the first thing to say is that I don't know a thing about this Galati crowd, but we shouldn't take them lightly as we have paid the price for that before. I was going to say that they will surely be playing in a tiny, badly maintained pitch, but it seems they are playing in one of the best in Romania thanks to UEFA insisting upon it.

Would love to see us rack up a nice score here, and I'd fancy 0-3 also.

Didn't Fergie confirm Rooney would start?

    Id go:

    Lindegaard

    Smalling----Jones----Vidic
    Fabio

    Valencia----Carrick---Anderson----Park

    Rooney

    Berbatov/Owen

Give Vidic some game time and Carrick certainly needs a work out.

Think that be close to starting lineup, think Owen might start ahead of Berba

Yep, head says Owen, heart says Berba. :(

Neither Berba nor Owen will start.

Neither Berba nor Owen will start.

Yeah I think it will be one of Hernandez or Welbeck, as at least one of them won't be starting against City.

I'd say Hernandez seeing as he didn't start against Liverpool.

    I'm going to guess;

    de Gea

    Fabio
    Smalling
    Vidic
    Evans

    Valencia
    Carrick
    Anderson
    Nani

    Rooney

    Hernandez

Lindegaard for de Gea wouldn't surprise me. I think Evra needs a rest, he's played almost every game this season and that includes internationals.(I think he missed the opener v West Brom) Evans should be nailed on for left back as Vidic should replace him v City.

Rather see fabio at left back with smalling Jones and Vidic .

    Evra's playing, is he not?

#MUFC team for tonight: Lindegaard, Smalling, Evra, Vidic, Fabio, Valencia, Carrick, Anderson, Nani, Rooney, Hernández”

#MUFC subs v Otelul Galati: De Gea, Jones, Evans, Fletcher, Owen, Berbatov, Welbeck.”

    Strong team

    :(

9 out of 11. I was sure Evra would be rested.

was coming on to predict the team, was going to post similar, though didnt expect fabio to play, would have predicted smalling jones vidic evra.

stronger team than saturday! its probably our strongest team, in all fairness there aint pile between valencia/young, de gea/lind and smallling/rio.

i would have liked that team to be picked on saturday though, much stronger with exception of de gea, though lind is a solid keeper.

ya would have made more sense to have fabio at LB.

    bench very strong offensively.
bench: De Gea, Jones, Evans, Fletcher, Owen, Berbatov, Welbeck.

???? he played the last game?

its called resting, being ready for a bigger game on sunday. PIG and Amos played group games last year.

amos will probably play against aldershot next week, with lindegaard getting experiance in the CL.

anybody know what the story with PIG - outcast?

Delighted to see wazza and chico up front together once again. Hopefully nani and tony can provide them with good ball to get a few goals between them tonight.

A 20 year old goalkeeper hardly needs resting in fairness. I'd imagine its more to do with getting the other lad a bit of experience.

Totally forgot he was still with us! Gone in January I'd say.

That team and the fact that it's going to be like a home/neutral game has me quite confident, tbh.

And the fact that my Dad who is a pox on us when he comes with me to the pub for CL games is barred for the night by me, has me uber confident! :D

Anyone know why TV3 have chosen to show this game, rather than the potentially more attractive City/Villareal game? Er, apart from the fact that it is United, obviously.

    Well, mainly because it's United.

I can't talk for other games but we have Anderson and Carrick in central midfeild tonight. Nuff said.

That's an over reaction. The same way the "just like Barcelona" comments at the start of the season were OTT.

Hmmm, we'd probably want to start scoring soon if we're gonna win 9-0.
