Series 2 begins next Monday (24 October)

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b016kgww
The boardroom will soon be open to receive the young hopefuls all eager to impress Lord Sugar with their business acumen.

The identities of the candidates will be revealed on here, the official website, on Tuesday 18th October - so make sure you come back for the unveiling. You will be able to view exclusive audition videos of the contestants and read their biogs before the show starts on BBC One the following week

In the first episode, The boys are pitted against the girls in a race to create a range of frozen treats.

Have to say, I'm looking forward to this, as I really enoyed the first series.

I like The Apprentice but have no interest in watching a bunch of kids on it for some reason. Barely watched the first series.

Althtough this year's crowd seem a bit older than last year's. Looks more like teen Apprentice this year.

Have you watched it? It's far more entertaining than the Irish adult version, imo.

I thought the lads were unlucky losing that one, to be fair. The Irish guy is incredibly annoying and should have gone instead of Mohammed, who was marginally less annoying.

I wonder why Karen didn't chip in and settle the argument over whose idea the pirate theme was. I was almost sure it was Mohammed's idea....

As soon as he said that Ben (?) had assisted people I knew he was a gonna ;) Harry seems very confident, will try and catch it again next week, the young ones are more astute than the adults. See you next week hopefully.

I have to say I loved the mantel piece flower display….never laughed so much. Also rainforest chic…loved it.

    Awww...I'm loving this series.

I do watch TV3's 'The Apprentice' - because it's Irish, but the BBC's Young Apprentice is far superior this time.

The characters are so entertaining - the boys aren't backward about coming forward, and mostly they talk a load of poo, but it's hilarious! The Northern Irish lad is a plonker - but is becoming somewhat of a loveable rogue, because he's a funny chancer.

Some of the candidates are REALLY impressive - that one Zara - she's SO confident, and articulate - but perhaps it's take more than words and confidence to win the prize.

The aerial shots are breathtaking - for those alone, it's worth watching!

And lastly - sorry, TV3 - but it's great to have no long ad breaks, and no 'lectures' about how great the sponsors/firms being featured are. Obviously, TV3 do the best with what they've got, and they haven't got a fraction of the resources available to the Beeb.

Last year, I felt that the Irish version stood up the UK one - maybe we have Panis the Greek to thank for that - but my goodness, this year, the Young Apprentice is in a league of its own.

I have no idea why any adult would be interested in this.

Because the tasks are on a par with the adult version, and quite frankly, most of the teens in this show would wipe the floor with many of the candidates in the adult version - and possibly almost all of the candidates in the Irish series.

100% agreed. This years Irish crew are mostly useless and they should be forced to watch these kids and learn how it's done. Normally I enjoy all the shows on the same level but this year jnr is kicking the Irish versions ass.

is this repeated on any night. I am so over the irish one - if this is all they can offer as the best in the country then we really are feckked. didn't even bother trying to remember their names this year.

I don't think the Junior Apprentice is repeated at all. What you could do if you have SKY+ or UPC, is record the Irish Apprentice and watch the Junior Apprentice.

Our Sky box can record the two shows simultaneously. Try record two programmes at the same time for a test run. I found out by accident! :P

You have to watch one of them though or leave it on one of the channels.......you can't record two and watch a third if you get me.

Their's a Dual platter HDD in the newer boxes, that's how it works.

Ah I see, well the TV was off so the box just recorded the two simultaneously. When did the Dual Platter HDD come in? Handy stuff :)

Or record two while watching something you have already recorded

I was very confused after the last episode in which they were selling products to the over 50's. At the start of the episode Alan Sugar clearly said the winners would be the ones who sold the most units yet at the end of the show he gave it to the team with the most profit:confused:
Did anyone else notice that or did I miss something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 115 ✭✭Kdylass

That was my understanding too - I thought both teams would have gone for the cheaper options so as to sell more units - however the number of units sold did not come into it at all - despite the instruction at the beginning of the show

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 217 ✭✭noveltea

That was my understanding as well....because I could not understand for the life of me why she insisted on buying one expensive thing

They should have fired Lord Sugar so :)
They must have told the 2 teams off air that it was the team with the biggest profit who wins as they both knew what they were doing. It's pretty poor editing from the beeb which is unusual from them.

Can't believe this has only got three pages of a thread on it. It's absolutely quality, the talent of some of the youngsters in it embarrasses the Irish adult version. By and large great entertainment too.

    Anyway its down to the last 6;

    Zara
    Haya
    Lizzie
    Harry M
    Harry H
    James

Really talented bunch of kids; having said that I think it's between Zara, James and Harry H for the £25k prize. The Norn Ireland chap has grown on me after an annoying start; he really does have his head screwed on for the most part. Think Zara will win it though; she's got the maturity of someone 10 years her senior.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 521 ✭✭✭gerbilgranny

It IS an excellent show - I didn't enjoy Monday's episode as much as previous ones, but it was still very watchable indeed.

Didn't like James at the beginning, but I hope he wins now. He's got the humour as well as everything else. Zara could be a 35-year-old, she's so confident, poised and articulate. And they're not a nasty bunch either - well, that Harry M can be a bit slithery, but he has his good-ish moments too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,146 ✭✭✭StephenHendry

i though Harry M would get fired, don't know how
he was not brough back in. james is doing quite well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

I'd like to see Harry H win it. Great programme though, they are 100 times better than the adults in the Irish Apprentice and would wipe the floor with them.

+ with this completely! Would be happy to see any of the three win it. I would rather watch this, than the Irish Apprentice. It's a much smoother show, better editing and the content is so much better.

The kids really do put the adults to shame.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Ah **** it anyway! Wanted Harry H to win, they were unlucky.

Think its obviously going to be James and Zara in the final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,599 ✭✭✭matthew8

That's a digrace. La popcorn was absolutely woeful yet Morrison's likes them. I'm not buying it. Harry H was the best in the process by a country mile and he's knocked out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Don't like any of these final three.

It was a much better concept that the generic one the Harry's came up with. If they'd managed to get the flavors more spot on [a lá Thai Sweet Chilli style from Walkers] and a better name it's a concept that would probably sell well in reality; there's **** all specialist popcorn out there. I can understand why Morrison's took to it.

Overall I think the two best Candidates are in the final but Zara will wipe the floor with James; she's got the head of a 25+yr old. James is just that little bit immature.

Harry M had ability but he's just too far up his own hole to actually realise that potential fully. Everyone of them in the final 6 bar maybe Haya are all fantastic candidates.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,962 ✭✭✭✭dark crystal

I was really sorry to see those three leave. Although, I guessed as much when the programme was edited to make it seem like Harry's team were doing much better - they do like to a shock boardroom. Very surprised that Morrison's went for La Popcorn in such quantities, though.

Shame to see Harry H leave, though, as I thought he was a potential winner.

Of the two left, I would prefer to see James win, as there is something a little off about Zara for me. I don't know is it a certain fakeness, or that thing she does where she passes other people's ideas off as her own, but I can't take to her at all.

Saying that, I think she's definitely Sir Alan's front runner at the moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,599 ✭✭✭matthew8

Zara definitely seems very fake. She seems to think she's a 25 year old, but she's not and it comes across very badly. I think James will do way better than her in the final, he has improved massively in this process.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 35,514 ✭✭✭✭efb

Harry H should have won this I'm bored

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 217 ✭✭noveltea

Nick seems really down on James and is really pushing for a Zara win.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,219 ✭✭✭woodoo

For a start i couldn't see Sugar opting for an Irishman over an English girl unless he was way out in front.

I think he did himself damage when he said he would use the money to study. Alan sugar is a businessman who is proud of the fact he never went to college and started his business at 15.
