    Hi,
Just over two months away so time to start thinking about what you're going to get...

I'd like a macro lens or a wide angle lens (8 or 10mm) and then I think I'd be happy with my collection of lenses. Although there's always one more to get.

I have a 30mm f1.4 lens so could get an extension tube or similar instead of an expensive macro lens. Or a manual one as I'd use it mainly for stationary objects (I think). Although an auto focus would be good for portraits of my young kids.

    Cheers,
    Pa.

The only thing I want is some NIK software, which I can get myself, so I'm getting my girlfriend a Canon EF 135mm f/2L or a EF 100mm f/2.8L.

Shhhhh....... I want it to be a surprise.

My missus owes me about 500 quid at the moment, so I'm sorted!

    I'd love a Canon 24-70mm 2.8 but realistically I think I'll be asking for a Tamron 28-75mm 2.8

I do need a phone though, so maybe not. We'll just have to wait and see!

maybe afterwards i'll learn my lesson and spalsh out for a B&W one/expensive one...

Well like MagicBastarder said, more time to take photos would be good, seeing as I haven't had time to take a single shot in November...
but I'm lucky because YEAHHHHHHHHHHH ! Mr Mountains is in NY right now, and if he can find the time to drop in B&H tomorrow I should (if they have it in stock) be the happy owner of a 50mm F1.4 Sigma for my Pentax K-x.
I have a very cheap manual 50mm 1.7 got off Ebay and I love it, but what with a crappy adaptor, etc..., I can't focus very far with it, so now I'll be able to, and sooooooooooooo looking forward to it. I really love the 50mm shot frame, and I feel there's so much more that I want to do with that lens other than the bokeh thing.
There's also a 55mm special telephoto series available, but not really interested and it's way dearer, and there was a Pentax model too, for cheaper, but the reviews on that don't seem as good as the Sigma, so Sigma it will be, hopefully !

Sorry for going on, just excited hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii :D

Of course going to seriously have to book a babysitter this new Year if I ever want to get any shots with it :(

I want the 50mm 1.2 and the 70-200 2.8 IS markii. Not likely to get either though. I would also like the markii5D but the focus issue is making me want to wait till Feb when the markiii might come out.

    I would wait.

I have the 5DII and I love it, but the AF should be way better ...

The 7D € for € is prob. a better camera.

    i like your style! :D

i have the 5d2 and love it! the focus thing isn't the end of the world, but i suppose it all depends on what you are shooting. when i went to buy the 5d2, it was out of stock so i asked about the 7d.. as i was still internally debating whether or not to go ff or stick with crop. the guy in the camera shop told me the 7d was crap! i have two friends with 7ds and they love em.... but i'm glad i went with the 5d2. got it somewhere else in the end (march this year)

Actually now that you mention it, Ive got one sitting in a box, it's only been used a handful of times. End up with a Nespresso.
But if it could be used to fund some photo gear, I'd be very untested in offloading it.

having used both I prefer the feel of the 5D mkII to the 7D - gave my 7D to my brother a few months ago... didn't notice focus issues with either camera.

I'm waiting for the 1D X next year .... might have to travel to get it but I think it'll be worth the money (estimated to be approx 6K) ...will get rid of my 1D mkIV to purchase it.

so did anybody get anything from their list?

i got the big stopper!!!!! but i can't use it cos i don't have a holder. hubby didn't know you need the holder too.
he also bought me polaroid film :D
and i'd bought myself a 50mm f/1.8 for my 5D a few days ago. all in all a good photography christmas :D

sounds like a good idea! it's one heck of an expensive mama! i wonder will kea photo have it? otherwise, maybe in the US it will be better value to buy there.

never used a 7D myself. i was all nikon before i bought the 5D.

Clever Mrs Liamo got me a 35mm f1.8. Yay :)

Amazon wish-lists are great. Mrs Liamo knows where to go when Xmas and birthdays are coming up.
On the negative side, there is a "Purchased" filter on the wish-list which I stupidly clicked on thereby ruining my Xmas surprise. Oh well ....

Birthday coming up in a few weeks. Time to update my Amazon wish-list. :)
