Ferry to Holyhead, drive to London, train to France, drive to Talinn

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,763 ✭✭✭Jax Teller

Heard you can fly to Helsinki and get 2 hour ferry to Estonia.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Few options, fly to Amsterdam then onto Talinn.

Fly to Standsted and onto Talinn.

Or pay Ryanair € 000's and go straight there.

Wont be cheap either way, there national stadium also only holds 10,000 so demand will upstrip supply.

aer lingus arent flying to helsinki at that time of year either do ryanair. ryanair do flight direct to tallinn just checked flights and cost is €356, plus booking fee, charges etc. From london cheapest flights I found was E178.29, so going through london could be cheaper, whethere its worth the hassle and time is another question. Id imagine accomodation and match tickets will be dirt cheap...

It got pretty expensive pretty quickly for 400 Rovers fans to get to the Flora Tallinn game which was in the same ground.

If you're going via Helsinki, SAS is usually the cheapest (they don't have direct flights but it's usually about 100 euro one way). The ferry to Tallinn takes 2 hours and is around 30 euro.

How hard will it be to get tickets for the away match?

Shannon - Stansted - Tallinn and Tallinn - Heathrow - Shannon for me. Around €300.

Dublin-Stansted-Riga-Bus to Talinn- 160 euro thereabouts.

    From the Estonian FA website:
Estonia - Ireland's European Championship play-off games will take place on Friday 11 November in Tallinn at 21:45 A. Le Coq Arena on Tuesday, 15 Estonian November at 21:45 local time (from 19:45 Irish time) on the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Held in Tallinn, Estonia - Ireland's meeting with the sale of tickets will Piletilevi on Monday, 17 October at 10:00. To escape the side stand, stand, run pay 16 and 14 euros, discounted tickets for 12 and 10 euros.

Tickets are dirt cheap, and the website seems to be this one: http://www.piletilevi.ee/

Dunno if they allow credit card booking + box office collection. Anyone fluent in Estonian? :)

Another option would be to take the long ferry from Rostock in Northern Germany to Tallinn or else to try and get to Stockholm and take another ferry across the Baltic. Wizz Air fly from Cork Airport to Vilnius which is about 400miles away from Talinn.

Way I got there before was flight to Stockholm, overnight ferry to Helsinki and high speed ferry to Talinn.
Of course it did take over a week and lots of alcohol was consumed. :D

There used to be direct flight between Dublin and Helsinki ?

Oh one word of caution, at this time of year the weather in the Baltic might be bad and if so I would give ferries a miss.

I am not allowed discuss …

anybody want the cheap route we are taking, PM me.

Tallinn's a big enough port, it shouldn't be too much bother getting a plane and ferry to suit without being screwed on the flights

Aer Lingus flies till late Oct, but not in November.

Ferries should be fine in November, too early in the season for ice etc. (which doesn't bother the ferries too much anyway).

    Booked mine there.

Flying out on the Wednesday through Stockholm, back on Saturday morning through Copenhagen. All in all with accommodation its costing €358 :)

    Going to be some trip.

I flew to Helsinki with SAS if memory serves me right.
then again it could have been Finn.

It is not the ice I am on about.
They have loads of icebreakers anyway, always see them tied up in Helsinki during the summer.
It is the rough seas, remember the Estonia sinking.
And yes I know there were other issues that casued it.

Anyway for anyone going over it is nice city and the women are drop dead gorgeous.

    When I went to see Rovers v flora tallin I went;
    Ryanair to stansted,
    Easyjet to tallin,

Then return Ryanair to east midlands and back to Dublin.

Worked out at around 230 total if I remember correctly.

right, here is my route, ive given everybody enought chance to book it now via pm :) i got it for €88l

it still is about €120 and it pretty good i think... all with ryanair, i used the master card pre paid which saved me €20. a good few have booked the oslo flight so that is about €70 last time i checked and the route over is still cheap at €51.

thursday - Dublin to Bruss/Char and then on to Riga.
Saturday - Talinn to Oslo to dublin.

quick enough trip and cost effective. have a hostel in riga that ive been in before, well recommended and then the buzz bus up to talinn in the morning.

ryanair have put on a special match flight in and out quickly, for €264 plus cc charge where applicable. not bad i suppose, but id like to take in at least one night there though, its alot of money to spend just for a 12 hour trip.

no they are not. when are people going to realise once and for all, that if 150 book flights at the same time, the price will go up in minutes.

its absolute bulls*it to blame ryanair, they put the prices up subject to normal operation, its just that the flights booked out quicker due to demand. they have a business model of 5-8 flights for 5euro, 5-8 for 10euro etc etc and up to a breakeven point at which then the other flights go up.

i would expect up to 3,000 people were looking for flights yesterday afternoon and about 1000 would have booked already.

deadly, all same flights ya? how much you get it for.

aint booked the hostel yet, its called franks. as there is 3 of us, maybe as cheap to get hotel close to the bus station, so not sure yet. would think it would be ok to book closer to the night anwyay, though looks like theres a 300-400 irish going via riga.

my concern is the bus, not sure whether to book now or wait for a private one.

Your prob right maybe the 830 one cause want some time in tallinn. Franks seems to be only 5 mins walk from bus so not too bad then recline in our leather seats with a beer sat morning for the journey up. We booked a taxi with franks for when we arrive so should be able to get you in it if you like

So had we but there is no limit on how many one person can buy... hearing horror stories of people buying bulks of 30 and 50!

Long story involving Cops coming into the place apparently looking for drugs and not being very nice about it. Had 2 great nights originally in it. Few dodgy pubs close buy but the one of the nights out arranged by the hostel was good.
