I'm on my second F100. No idea about servicing costs as I take care of it myself. Oil, filter, fuel filter, leg oil and plugs every year, grease everything that moves, spray everything else with WD40 and drain the carbs at the end of the season. They're very reliable and unusually easy on impellers although I'd recommend replacing it every three years anyway at least to ensure the leg doesn't become impossible to remove.
Keep an eye on the "rusted-on-every-Yamaha-I've-ever-owned" T+T motor cover and check the bottom end of the steering tube for corrosion. Steel meets alloy in seawater there so keep it clean as replacing that bracket is a powerhead off job.
The tilt support bracket is another weak point and gets bent and chewed up looking in normal use but there's no point in fixing it. It's a good idea if you can support the engine some other way while towing.
The timing belt needs replacing about every 500 hours OR the more common 5 years - not as expensive by a long chalk as your typical car as it's relatively easy to get at and if you don't know the engine history....... It's an interference engine, or in other words, a timing belt breakage will take out the head and probably the pistons.

One otehr point is make sure it's correctly propped. If it's strainig and not able to achive max revs about 6,000 rpm, they can give problmes with getting fuel in the lube oil.

It's a good time of the year to ask a dealer to service an engine. They're quiet for the next six months so glad of the business and have the time to really give it a going over. They might even keep it in out of the weather for you for much of the winter.

It's a beautiful quiet reliable engine and very good on fuel so well worth looking after.
