I've been working out like crazy recently and eating 99% perfectly and the weight has been falling off. The only problem is that I've lost inches everywhere but my thighs. I know that you can't spot reduce as such but are their any types of exercise that will help to speed up the weight loss from my thighs. I've just started doing several spinning classes a week - should I start to see results from that soon? I know that lunges and squats are the holy grail but is there anything else I could be doing?

Not really. But I think from your post that you knew that already. as you said, you can't spot reduce. However, heavy squats, lunges, deadlifts etc. might help firm up your thighs.

Thanks :( Yeah I've been doing compound weighted exercises with my squats and lunges.

I can see a change in my body shape already but just getting impatient with the damn legs. I'm down two dress sizes everywhere else but still stuck in the bigger jeans cos my thighs won't go into the smaller ones!

Do you reckon the spinning will have much effect - or would my time be used better doing more weights etc.

The combination of cardio and compound weights (as well as a good clean diet) will do the trick. It takes patience, and tiny little tweaks here and there, I'm afraid.

As Mr. Frogdog says, you just can't order your body where to lose fat first from. I'm there with you. For every 3 inches I lose in the waist, I only lose 0.5 in the hip area. Unfortunately it does take patience but I've actually just stopped worrying about it. I can walk around on my legs & do things with them, I'm happy with that.

I've just started doing several spinning classes a week - should I start to see results from that soon?

depends on the classes... and what the instructor is getting you to do (anything that distracts for outputting the appropriate amount of power is waisting your time)... are they teaching you skill about how to pedal on the bike, how to position yourself so you can breathe yet get your legs to push the appropriate amount of resistance (not just freewheel)...

also depends on your current level of fitness... have you a good aerobic base (can you train at a challenging enough level without getting breathless or feeling the legs burning)... do you use a heart rate monitor or guidelines in the class...

and yes... keep doing the strength training... but plan when to do it around the appropriate type of class

    post up your current diet.

Are you sleeping ok? Managing stress ok?
