    She needs to take it for 7 days straight for it to be effective.
    The instruction packet which came with it will explain.

    I would be very careful about that. I would at least wait till one packet has been used. I know a few people that started having unprotected sex after starting the pill only to have a baby 9 months later.

    Ah now don't be scaring the poor guy :P

    @OP
    7 days is usually the amount of time it takes for the pill to take effect.
    You should of course wear protection too.

    The pill is not 100% effective at protecting unwanted pregnancy. No method of contraception is, just use another method too. Just be careful OP, especially if she gets sick or is taking antibiotics too.

    I'd just like to add that the term "the pill" is very ambiguous too. There are many different types of pill, combined, Progesterone only, etc. Each one has different rules.
    Read the leaflet that comes with the pill.
    If in doubt visit your pharmacist. And also, double up on precautions by using a barrier method in the meantime.

    Thanks everyone for the replies.
    Tbh the reason she went on the pill was so we could cut out the use of a condom:rolleyes:..
    What your advice on having sex say 10 days of her taking it??

    Honestly only way to be sure is the check leaftlet that came with the box and if your still not sure check with the chemist who dispensed it.

    It's not 100% effective mind and if your not going to be using condoms and either of ye have had previous partners an sti screening is a good idea, just to be sure.
