sounds like there is some contact going on

    from billboard.com

Speaking with Billboard.com regarding his upcoming second book, "Trust Me, I'm Dr. Ozzy," Osbourne also touched on the swirling Sabbath reunion rumors. "Yes, it's a very, very strong possibility," he says of getting the old band back together. "It's in the very early stages, so we haven't recorded anything yet. If it works out, it'll work out. If it doesn't, I'll keep doing my thing."

    A tour? Yes please.

A new album, no thanks. Let's not tarnish the legacy.

If it does happen it'll make an arse of Geezer (who seemed to be the most vocal about it never happening) ...

Seen them 4 times, both re-union gigs in B'ham, B'ham a year or 2 later and Milton Keynes.

I've gone beyond caring about Sabbath now, $harron only wants Ozzy to do it for the money, the Sabbath (And Ozzy) i know and love died years ago

Who wants to see Ozzy stumbling round the stage mumbling 'scream for me' or 'go fucxin crazy!' (without sounding one bit like he means it) between poorly delivered vocals? Some people can get older and still be relevant like Tony Iommi, but Ozzy has lost the magic and is a joke these days. Yeah he can still be amusing the odd time when interviewed, but thats not enough and it needs to stop. And on top of that he inflicted Sharon, Jack and Kelly Osbourne upon the world. Thanks a million Oz...

Can't really be a*sed with Ozzy. With late Dio It could have worked out, at least live but with Oz... Well, only if you never saw them live could it be interesting.

I doubt they're organising a press conference for the 11.11.11 at 11.11am purely to say they're not doing anything at all. Saw Black Sabbath at whatever Ozzfest in Milton Keynes and was completely underwhelmed so it'll be with something short of bated breath that I'll be waiting to find out what portentous news is coming.

To be fair, I saw Ozzy at Hellfest this year, expected him to be ****e as I'd seen him the last time he played in Dublin and he was utter rubbish, but he was feckin' great at Hellfest. Then again he played five Sabbath tunes and only played stuff up as far as No More Tears.

I saw Sabbath at the '97 reunion gig in Brum and could very well die a happy man on that basis alone, but it'd be great to see them one more time :D

As long as this announcement tomorrow isn't a new album, that is something I don't want at all ha ha ha

    11-11-11 is today!

Wouldn't mind witnessing the lineup with Ozzy live. I wouldn't object to a new album either.

No objections here about a new album either. If its sh*t I'll just ignore it, but if its class then happy days. Would love to see them live but that would most likely depend on them playing an Irish gig.

Yet another reason why i hate Ozzy so much now.

Sabbath are a British band, so why have the announcement at 11:11 U.S time

Certain members of that band and their entourage are only British when it suits a particular media soundbyte. No doubt the same bunch of people will milk what is coming for everything they can.

They are nothing more than an oozing boil on the arse of a legendary band. They add nothing but irritation, but need constant attention.

That post is one of the best and most accurate i've read in a long time, EXACTLY the way i feel about them.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

Convenient. An hour's drive south too. Doesn't quite measure up to the 20 minute walk I had to Marley park for gigs, but still, all things considered ... win \o/

Great news and I look forward to the new album but FFS why does Download have to be the same time as Euro 2012  I wish Sabbath had of chosen Sonisphere so I could have gone to both...

Great news, two great Download headliners

Now all we need is Van Halen and I won't be attending another gig in 2012

    Well...not really...but Download will be No 1

A band like Black Sabbath need a different producer than Rick Rubin, I can't be the only one who thinks albums with his production tag come out sounding stripped down, and while this isn't a bad thing of itself for a lot of bands, I think Sabbath will need someone to put some meat on their aul bones in order to make a substantial sounding record.

Of course, the songs will probably be ****en awful regardless.

Be very interested to see the tour schedule, Ozzy is well and truly fcuked and CANNOT play 2 consecutive nights, i think it'll be Gig, 2 days off, Gig

Also i can see a few dates being cancelled due to ill health.

I met Ozzy after the first set of Reunion gigs in Birmingham, 98 i think it was, and he was well and truly fcuked, i was shocked, i know it was only an hour after he'd finished his set but i was shocked all the same.

I've mentioned this once before on this forum but i'll mention it again, i used to roadie for a few bands, and one of these bands best mate was a pretty big guitarist in a big band, he told me that he'd done a few festivals with Ozzy in Europe and that he didn't know what country he was in half the time.
The most shocking revelation he made was that in the wings for every show is a guy who sings along with Ozzy, a tall blond haired dude, Ozzy has such a problem hitting some of these high notes now that this guy is brought into the mix frequently.
I asked another guy i used to hang out with, who was tour manager for a big U.S band and he confirmed it.

**** me, I'd prefer if they brought back Tony Martin. At least he preform. If he's not available then maybe exhume Dio or something. Anything would be better than Ozzy.

Can Bill Ward even play drums these days? I thought he was in a fairly bad way as well.

    Statement from Bill Ward's Facebook

Statement on Black Sabbath Album & Tour:

    Los Angeles, CA – February 2, 2012

Dear Sabbath Fans, Fellow Musicians and Interested Parties,

At this time, I would love nothing more than to be able to proceed with the Black Sabbath album and tour. However, I am unable to continue unless a "signable" contract is drawn up; a contract that reflects some dignity and respect toward me as an original member of the band. Last year, I worked diligently in good faith with Tony, Ozzy and Geezer. And on 11/11/11, again in good faith, I participated in the L.A. press conference. Several days ago, after nearly a year of trying to negotiate, another “unsignable” contract was handed to me.

Let me say that although this has put me in some kind of holding pattern, I am packed and ready to leave the U.S. for England. More importantly, I definitely want to play on the album, and I definitely want to tour with Black Sabbath.

Since the news of Tony's illness, and the understanding that the band would move production to the U.K., I've spent everyday getting to or living in a place of readiness to leave. That involves something of a task, and as I've tried to find out what's going on with the U.K. sessions, I've realized that I've been getting "the cold shoulder" (and, I might add, not for the first time). Feeling somewhat ostracized, my guess is as of today, I will know nothing of what'shappening unless I sign "the unsignable contract."

The place I'm in feels lousy and lonely because as much as I want to play and participate, Ialso have to stand for something and not sign on. If I sign as-is, I stand to lose my rights, dignity and respectability as a rock musician. I believe in freedom and freedom of speech. I grew up in a hard rock/metal band. We stood for something then, and we played from the heart with honesty and sincerity. I am in the spirit of integrity, far from the corporate malady, I am real and honest, fair and compassionate.

If I'm replaced, I have to face you, the beloved Sabbath fans. I hope you will not hold me responsible for the failure of an original Black Sabbath lineup as promoted. Without fault finding, I want to assure everyone that my loyalty to Sabbath is intact.

So here I am. I lay my truth down before you. I'm good to go IF I get a “signable” contract. I don't want to let anyone down, especially Black Sabbath and all the Sabbath fans. You know I love you. It would be a sad day in Rock if this current situation fell to the desires of a few.

My position is not greed-driven. I'm not holding out for a "big piece" of the action (money) like some kind of blackmail deal. I’d like something that recognizes and is reflective of my contributions to the band, including the reunions that started fourteen years ago. After the last tour I vowed to never again sign on to an unreasonable contract. I want a contract that shows some respect to me and my family, a contract that will honor all that I've brought to Black Sabbath since its beginning.

    That's the story so far.

    Stay safe and stay strong.

I love every single one of you.

    --Bill Ward

I fckuin hate that bitch, have done for years, she's only in it for herself.

Bill deserves so much more than this, and fair fcuks to him for standing up to the evil bitch.

I know some of you may jump in and say ther's no proof it's $harron but come on, look at past history and her track record, and who else is there who would be this penny pinching??

I wouldnt be too hasty in pointing the finger at Sharon. Didn't Bill pull a similar stunt over Heaven & Hell with Dio in a few years back and back out of the tour?

This is the sort of thing $harron is well known for, anyone would think the money grabbing bitch is short of a few quid.

IIRC Bill had issues with H&H because of his heart

Well given that in 2004 he pulled out of the Ozzfest tour due to "management" issues involving Sharon Osbourne, I am just waiting for her to come out and announce a stand in drummer like she did back then.

Seems if one goes and looks back at many of the issues that Black Sabbath members had over the years there is one member of management involved in those issues.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,959 ✭✭✭✭scudzilla

    From Sabbath's FB page

We were saddened to hear yesterday via Facebook that Bill declined publicly to participate in our current Black Sabbath plans...we have no choice but to continue recording without him although our door is always open... We are still in the UK with Tony. Writing and recording the new album and on a roll... See you at Download!!!

    - Tony, Ozzy and Geezer

Now at NO POINT AT ALL in Bill's statement did he say he was out, just that he wanted a fair contract, not much to ask.

This Sabbath thing is now turning into a fcukin joke

Bill was ill at the time of Heaven and Hell.

Remember Sharon is the b***h who tried to screw Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake out of rights and royalties to Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman between 2002 and 2010 and had the drum and bass tracks replaced by other musicians.

Indeed they did, which is probably one reason why they're by far the best of Ozzy's solo work, the other reason being fantastic guitar work of Randy Rhoads.

Evidently Ozzy can't write to save his life, most of Sabbaths songs were by Iommi/Butler but all credits were Butler/Iommi/Osbourne/Ward. Daisley, Kerslake and Rhoads wrote most of the BOO and DOAM albums but contractually Ozzy got his name on every song (except for the instrumental Dee) but his actual contributions are unclear.

    Breaking news:

MetalTalk.net have just been informed by a reliable source that Sharon Osbourne has fired Bill Ward. If this turns out to be true, as fully expected, then it won't go down well with the Metal community.

MetalTalk.net understands that Bill's replacement will be Tommy Clufetos from the Ozzy Osbourne band.

We'll find out more as soon as possible.

Stay posted for more information as we have it...
