Hi, I badly need to loose two stone and was going great till I moved out for college and have now put all the weight back on :( Need to do something asap as I saw pictures of myself today from a night out and I look huge. My big weakness are fatty dinners and wine :(

Would i be able to get some feedback on the following? This is what I was eating before I moved out and it was working. Also was keeping a food diary on my phone!

Breakfast- scrambled/poached eggs with finn crisp/rivita or crackerbread OR crackers with low fat cheese

Lunch-finn crisp/rivita/crackerbread with low fat cheese spread and cucumber OR tuna with green salad.

    Snacks-berries or low fat yogurt

Dinner- usually chicken with veg or a sauce and a small amount of rice/pasta/veg

Any recipe idea? Very low on money so it's gonna be hard keeping the healthy eating up..I'd love to just see some difference in photos of myself asap :( I look awful...

  • eat more meat. Kill the crackers and ryvitas.

Go nuts on vegetables, they're incredibly low in calories for their volume. Brocolli and Cauliflower are your new gods. Eat them constantly, and plenty of green leafy veg like Spinach. As a rule of thumb, you want your plate to be half veg, and half meat.

Don't be afraid of lipids (fat), embrace them, your body needs them and your immune system and metabolism will get very stagnant/weak without them. Lipids are essential, they must form part of your diet.

Look at the composition of things you are eating, check the sugar levels in them. Consider that a spoon of sugar is 5g. Killing sugar from your diet is tough considering it's in almost everything processed. But if you can avoid sugar, and thereby avoid almost all processed food, you'll be far better off for it.

    Breakfast - Eggs
    Lunch - Chicken breast/Turkey breast/Salmon Fillet with spinach, 30g almonds, 30g cheese
Dinner - big lump of meat, whatever tickles your fancy and a monster portion of Brocolli and Cauliflower. Add butter (real) or cheese to make it even more delicious.
Snacks - stick to low kcal, low carb snacks to prevent insulin spikes. a slice of ham / cucumber and some cheese etc is ideal. A tin of tuna is a great sneak and berries are great too!

Kill the rice/pasta/ryvitas and eat things that you make yourself. All of this is in the nutrition101 sticky above. Be disciplined and you will shift the weight, stick with it!

Thanks :) I never seem full without the rivita or something!!

I have so many weaknesses, I adore cheese especially feta! I know it has loads of calories...and I work a lot as well as college so I'm often giving in and getting a takeaway coz I'm too tired to cook.

  • cheese is fine. It's tough to eat a considerable amount of cheese. 50g of cheese a day is more than fine, and is an 1/8th of a block, which is actually a lot to try to get through!

400kcals per 100gs. It's about 2/3 as calorie dense as chocolate. It's far far easier to eat 100g of chocolate than 100g of cheese though.

I think I eat a surprising amount of cheese once I start! I think I need to invest in some scales for the kitchen though so I know how much I'm eating!

Thanks for your advice it's really helpful :)

Hi Martha i hope your OP is not driven by a bad self image, that feeling can lead to anorexia at worst.

it seems to be usually Women who end up in a mess about their weight, you do not have to fall for that.
their are some slight medical issues about being overweight but you or anybody feeling miserable about themselves most of all need to like, there i say love themselves?

Hey try loving yourself as a person most of all.
the perfect body is a matter of opinion that varies a hugh amount.
most of all do not be so harsh on yourself.............. please. you are feeling bad about yourself and in your heart and soul you are probaly the nicest person on boards for all we could be sure of.
just be easy and kind to yourself and accept yourself as you are,if you feel crap about yourself you will never find the strenth.to change anything until YOU decide what you what is most important.
don't buy the diet *crap* alone but do look after your body and mind.
most of all *BE HAPPY* :)

    Hi Martha,

I know this might sound obvious but would you e able to fit in some exercise during your day ?
Not only will it help you burns off a calories but a good hard work out will make you appreciate what you've done and will make you far less lightly to binge and waste all your hard work.

    good luck by the way.

Yeah, I have a fairly hectic day but I'm going to try and fit in some in the evenings. I used to go on the treadmill a lot so I'm going to start with walking and work my way up from there!
