Good first 5 minutes for Macedonia. Armenia haven't really got out of their half yet.

Far from Sh*te have proved difficult for all the teams in the group so far. Pity Pandev is out though as quality player.

That's the Brazilian dude they've naturalised that scored, right?

Any chance we can do that???? :D

Decent goal but shocking defending. Tuesday is gonna be some nervy day...

    Who scored?

    EDIT: Got it.

I specifically meant on their performance in this particular match so far, thought that was obvious. Goalkeeper alone has looked a liability and they're definitely missing Pandev.

    Match is fair dirty :pac:

Galway United have a Brazilian midfielder names Eduardo..maybe we can naturalise him.

He plays in a team that has taken 6 points from 32 games and conceded 99 goals, but I bet he's still better than Paul Green.

I'm glad we played Armenia away when we did. Tuesday night however is gonna be squeaky bum time.

How much space are they getting though around the box? That second goal shouldn't have happened nobody bothered to tackle.

Hopefully we can be a bit tighter on Tuesday than the Macedonian effort at present.

I was saying this at the start of the qualifying campaign and very few would listen.
They are a young team only starting to gel together. They will get better and better.

They look a handy side, but without disrespecting Armenia, if we can't beat them in Dublin then we're better off not going to the Euros as I think we'd take a few awful hidings.

They have a very young inexperienced squad. They've grown throughout the campaign so definitely getting that one out of the way early was a blessing.

Can't wait for a backs to the wall performance now on Tuesday. Will be so depressing watching us getting played off the park and just trying to keep it tight.

Our style of play makes it unlikely we'd take a hiding but likely we'll struggle to put Amernia(other teams) away!

Very happy Dunne is suspended for the Andorra game and not this one.

this is on the money. Our problem isn't competing with bigger teams (that's what we're set out to do, to contain better footballing teams and nick a goal), its holding onto the ball and creating chances against supposedly weaker opposition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Can't see Macedonia getting back into this at all. They've been very sloppy in giving the ball away and lack composure in front of goal or whenever they get into the final third.

In fairness, that 2nd goal should never have stood. That Armenian player wandering way off side was blocking the keepers line of sight. He didnt see it til late!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,190 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Armenia will be set for a serious seeding increase in the WC 2014 qualifiers you would think - also a rise in the rankings too.

Slip of the tongue, Euro 2016.

In my head I was trying to go ahead 2 tournaments but went ahead 4 years instead (Well 3...but you get what I mean!)

We have to remember, if we think beating Armenia to get a play-off place will be tough then just think about trying to get past the Germans and Swedes next time round.

We must make the most of this.

Think you are disrespecting them to be honest. When we drew Slovakia, all people here talked about was how the likes of Hamsik and Weiss were going to make us look silly. That team were beaten 5-1 and 3-1 and a certain Mr. Hamsik, a player who by all accounts was going to destroy teams in this qualification group actually looked rubbish.

There's a real star (possibly better than any player we have) playing for Armenia called Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who quite frankly has been criminally ignored.

I don't think he underrates them at all, despite their progression in this campagin the fact still remains that if we fail to progress because of a failure to win on Tuesday then we will have to hold our hands up and say we didn't deserve it.

Aviva should be full on Tuesday - at least it better be.

Just looked at the group Armenia are in for the 2014 WC, talk about a group of death.

    Italy 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
    Denmark 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
    Czech Republic 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
    Bulgaria 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
    Armenia 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
    Malta 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

    Live fifa rankings now available
    http://www.fifa.com/worldranking/rankingtable/index.html

You can even plug in hypothetical future results to see change
A win tonight and 1-0 loss to us should leave them in same position as yesterday, 44th .
They took a big leap after last round of games.

Ireland would want to take full advantage of the easy game tonight and get into a habit of scoring because we'll probably concede against this Armenia team. A lot of momentum on their side coming into the game against Ireland.
