Smarthomes and phone problems

We seem to have 'smarthomes' in the apartment that we've just started renting... We're apparently connected to vodafone telephone and broadband. broadband won't be out for another 5 days or so but apparently were ready to use the telephone side of things. But have set up telephone and not getting any dial tone! any body…
