Iv read that when you divide the bi-acromial distance by the bi-iliac breadth the optimal value for building muscle mass is 1.46, mine is 1.26. am i waisting my time trying?

Im 6'2" and 12.5st, really want to get some muscular definition on this skeleton.

Fed up bein called a rake/skinny but even if i did put in the effort will i still look thin after all?

Well, things won't change if you don't put in the effort.

Do you mean that people with that ratio build muscle more easily? Or that it is the aesthetic ideal?
Kinda hard to measure but mine is a bit over 1.5. I've had noticeably wider shoulders before though.

Above 1.46 is suppose to be able to carry more weight.

It's not easy to measure and if you are gettign values above 1.50 then you are prob mis-judging. A study I seen said 1.50 was around the max based on a sample of Finns (who are naturally broad shouldered).

Or maybe you really do look like this guy

Sorry lads, it says that the larger the ratio the more muscle mass you be able to carry on your frame. I presume that means the wider your shoulders are compared to your hips the "proper" it looks?
