Well if you have a health issue with your stock, then you'll call on the services of a vet, so consider which vet. and yes the form needs to be completed fully.

I got inspected last year and as a rule I doubt they call the vet if everything else is in order. To me its makes sense to inform the vet.

Unless you find otherwise there is no time limit...within reason...couple years.
Again I don't know specifically, but there is no time limit of a few months etc.

The important things are informing the department of any pig movements.

    Your pig number is permanent.
You will have it as long as you continue to keep it active, every so often the Dept. sends out a pig census which you fill in and return to them.
The current one doesn't mention it but the previous one said that if you didn't return it then your number would be considered to be void.
Even if you have no pigs you still have to fill the form out.

We just put down the local vet's office, it's our regular vet anyway..
During the inspection the VO asked who we dealt with for vetnary issues..

We didn't ring them and say we were putting them down, but if you don't deal with the local vet maybe a quick call would be a good idea... I didn't get the feeling the VO had contacted them..

We had two pigs in the pen when he arrived to do the inspection (just couldn't wait ), he didn't mind and was happier to know we were getting the number rather than just keeping pigs on the quiet..
