Router Recommendation

I just got UPC's 20mb broadband and I didn't get the router they offer with the package.
Can anyone recommend a decent cheap (€20-€30) router or where to look for a cheap one? Only myself and 1 other person will be using it in a small flat.

    Thanks for any advice.

THIS is a great little device. Great coverage. Cheap, cheerful, and reliable.

Sorry but everyone here will tell you to avoid a Belkin like your life depends on it, terrible rubbish, give lots of trouble. Buy cheap, buy twice.

I recommend these because I've setup hundreds of them and trust them to work: http://www.elara.ie/productdetail.aspx?productcode=ECE1136421
The GL model is the older specs Linksys, before Cisco took them over and started chopping and changing components for cheaper ones.

I've installed 8 for relations. Not once has one failed or locked up. Can't believe everything you read my friend.:) Like everything, dearest in not necessarily best.

Trust me, I've replaced more than 8 with Linksys ones. They're not worth the trouble

As part of my last job as a Fixed wireless installer I used install and setup routers in peoples houses, hundreds over 3.5yrs. We needed them to dial PPPoE every 30 seconds to keep the connection alive. It's a very simple thing for a router to do. Failing to do it would mean a service call to replace it that would cost more than the price of a decent router. Belkin cannot be trusted to do it, they're a pile of crap. We tried many brands and had issues with lots therefore we stuck with Linksys, although more expensive they just work. Netgear and Buffalo were ok too. Later Linksys are crap too, this is the older spec one that works well

Then there's also this at a later date if you need more functions, QOS etc:

It doesn't have a modem or a dsl port, but you can bridge your current one and let this one handle all routing, post 6

It's a GS, it has 64MB ram which makes it a great router, it already has been flashed with dd-wrt saving you the bother. Not all Linksys can be flashed with dd-wrt (Cisco changing components like I said before), sometimes even different versions of the same model can't be flashed. Those that can are generally better routers.

Cheers, I have been forced to replace my vodafone router for €20 that apparently is causing all my broadband problems - so for a bit more might just buy a decent router

It doesn't have a dsl internet port to connect your telephone line to, you will need to bridge your existing modem/router or else buy a seperate modem. Make sure you can do that before you jump in and buy it.

No idea, it depends on the router and every router is different. You best have a google to see has anyone asked how to bridge that model before.
