Women who like a man who has "financial security"

We've all heard it before :pac:
"i'm looking for a man with financial security" from certain women.

Am I the only one who finds this such a joke? :p
Like one could maybe understand it coming from a woman who is a doctor, solicitor etc. She wants to date a bloke similar to her level of success.

But you see more and more women saying it. Women who only work in the likes of Tesco :pac:
Lets dissect it more. A woman wouldnt date a certain man because he isnt loaded. Like that's the special ingredient to make a relationship work.
As long as he has money it doesnt matter if he is selfish, a liar, insensitive, a jerk etc. :pac:

So.. am i alone in thinking this is the mentality of a gold-digger? (in one form or another?)

Is it just a nicer expression for gold diggers? 129 votes

No one is financially secure these days, my advice would be to drop the numbers thinking and just date for love and fun:)

If it gets serious you can work things out.

Nothing wrong with working in Tesco :)

Also maybe they mean free of debt instead of being loaded.

Gold diggers exist in both genders.

Thing is most people find successful people attractive and a successful person is likely to be well off...so are we supposed to apologise for being attracted to success?

I hear woman who want to settle down say that (usually mid 30s) and what they mean by "financial security" is someone who has a stable job they enjoy.

I would like a bit of stability!

You know what, I genuinely couldn't care less what the person does for a living as long as it is honourable! ;) I was talking to a guy one night, told me he was a respiratory doctor, he was great for a chat but was definitely not attracted to him. One of my friends was asking about him after he had left, I was telling her and told her what he did for a living and I saw a change in her expression straight away. She could not believe I wasn't interested in the fact that he had a good job. I just find the whole thing bizarre. What do you do with him for the time you actually have to be around him?!

Some gold-digger broke the 100% poll run there.

Ah if it's part of the whole package that a women finds desirable then what's the problem? Lot's of women want kids and a family and all that jazz and being financially secure is (or should be) a big part of that.

If it's only the 'financial security' they find desirable though then yeah, they are gold digging skanks.

Is it also fair to say women are attracted to strength, financial security can give someone a lot of respect and strength. Woman are attracted to men who other men respect.

My attraction to women has nothing to do with how 'successful' they are

I seriously doubt any of the guys I know would turn as a good looking girl passes by and think "hmmm , I wonder how successful she is"...

Okay....let me put it this way....you meet an attractive girl on a night out and you get to know her...it turns out she's completely unmotivated in life and her work and complains constantly about her situation but does absolutely nothing to change it.
Does your attraction to her lessen?

People who are driven, who are full of goals and plans and energy, are interesting. Members of the opposite sex full of goals and plans and energy are sexy.

Ummm am I being weird, but I've always supported myself. I'm the one who pays the bills and buys everything for the little one....... there's a sense of pride in it!

Girl meets ugly man with low IQ.

Does she have some interest in him when she finds out he has tons of bread in the bank?

You seem to believe 'financial security' is wimmin's secret code for 'a doctor I can bring home to Mammy'. Perhaps these women simply mean 'a guy who can go out for the night without getting locked and maybe go halves on a cheap sun holiday without running up an overdraft'.
    But what do I know?

Really if women are allowed to have "abiltiy to pay bills" as a criteria then surely men should be able to discriminate based on cooking and cleaning abilites.

No. It wouldn't increase, but if she's attractive, she's attractive!

    But what do I know?

Not being able to afford a proper night out, and scabbing half the price of a week in santa ponsa is not what I'd call "financial security".

People who are driven, who are full of goals and plans and energy, are interesting. Members of the opposite sex full of goals and plans and energy are sexy.

Maybe to you, but I find that a complete turn off. Egotistical glory-hunters. People who are sound are a turn on.

So what criteria should I have then seeing as I earn the money with which I pay the bills, mind the child, cook, clean, cut the grass, paint and take care of most of the DIY *phew*!

I would think it means a man who is not feckless with money. A bit of financial cop-on so to speak.

Not necessarily a multi-millionaire. That would be a bonus.

Someone who doesn't throw all the moolah away in the pub, paddy power, and ends up scrounging from week to week.

Doesn't give a great indication of providing (security) for a future family.

Maybe they just mean "I don't want a loser guy who will borrow money from me for spliffs and the pub"?

down the country if he has land, big farm etc. you're quids in or quids out if she is a real gold digger. a mate of mine got married to a girl who tried to screw him out of his wealth, trying to take him for every penny a few years. it had in a right state, thankfully he managed to prevent her doing so. the lesson is to treat your gold digger mean but don't marry her

Nothing wrong with looking for glory and achievement, and nothing wrong with having an ego as long as it's in proportion to your abilities. That's just self-confidence and belief. Doesn't stop anyone being sound either, but personally I just couldn't sit around listening to someone wait comfortably to die, having done shag all with their life. Got to be going places. Since, in my case, this has nothing to do with capacity to provide for me or to offer me anything in particular as a result, I imagine plenty of the women who look for similar things aren't doing it with a view to their partner's capacity to provide for and maintain them, but merely to avoid ending up with someone who bores the life clean out of them.

I wouldn't have made the connection between the two. I'd like someone who is ambitious and motivated, but it doesn't mean he has to own his own company and be rich,it means not lazy and having a want for something good for himself.

I find it odd there are women that look for rich men,but at the same time that has to mean there are rich men willing to go for them too.so who's the stupid one in that situation?

I'd like a guy who dresses well, meaning he isn't going around with holes in his clothes (unless that is the fashion of the clothes) and somewhat clean! I don't care if they are Dunnes or Tommy Hilfiger. Fashion sense is not essential, but would be a plus.

I don't care what he does as long as he is happy doing it, and as long as he isn't pretentious "I earn x amount a year" - hate that! As long as he has some drive in life and wants the same things as me I don't care what the amount in the bank at the end of the day.

I would like to be treated to a cinema trip now and again or to a restaurant(not flashy ones)/nice take away. In return I would wash the clothes, mind the kids, keep the house clean, and I am one hell of a cook/baker!!!! :D Seems fair to me tbh!

Also men that are recently unemployed but are looking or work are not to be ignored! Lets face it, if a man has drive then he will be trying to get off it again and that is a man worth having!

Girls who insist on "financial security" alone do tend to be the aulde goldiggers!
