Director of Corporate Enforcement Paul Appleby has announced that he will retire from his position at the end of February. He has held the position for the last ten years. Mr Appleby, 57, said his decision to retire would not impede the office's work in the Anglo Irish Bank investigation and said if his assistance was required, he would make himself available. Mr Appleby made the announcement in a statement this morning. He said this "followed a period of reflection and discussion of my position with my wife and family in recent weeks". Mr Appleby will be paid a retirement lump sum of €225,000 and have an annual pension of €73,000 following his 39 years of service in the civil service.

An ordinary dubliner who knows all the man on the streets (who sounds surprisingly like PJ Gallagher) doesn't want paul appleby to retire. I think he wants him to captain Ireland on sunday against Wales cause BOD is injured.

If I was married to him I'd stick a sock in his gob (actually I wouldn't marry him in the first place), squeaky squeak.

And rightly so too, the kitchen is the place for them. Unless they're putting the bins out, it's only acceptable then, unless of course it's greyhound collecting them.

Ha Ha, the Kerry man just foiled Joe who tried to send him off on a tangent about nurses and midwifes, nothing to do with this topic of course. But that never stopped Joe trying.
