Where to watch the Wales game saturday morning

Cant wait for next saturday's game. Should be a huge battle between two teams brimming with confidence and hopefully we come out the right side of it.

Whilst the group games have been full of excitement and drama it hasn't been the same when your watching it at home on tv so am wondering where people plan to watch the game or is there many pubs in Dublin opening for the game saturday morning.

I see Dundrum Cinema are showing the match for free saturday morning but don't think cinema id be the best spot to watch a game like this.

Thought the O2 might open again for the game but maybe theres a concert on at the weekend as no mention of it anywhere online.

According to another thread here, the O2 won't be showing it because there'll be no public transport running to bring people into town.

There was a piece today in the Times about Kiely's showing the Italy game and they're opening again on Saturday. No booze obviously, but looking at the photos it seemed to be wedged yesterday. Might be a bit of craic.

    I'll be in the scratcher.

I would imagine very few people are going to get up at 5am and go
to a pub to watch the match seeing at there will be no booze and
no public transport running that early.
Vast majority will just watch it at home if they even get up in time.

the pubs must be going mad at all the lost revenue due to the stupid times.

out of the 8 teams in the 1/4 finals the "stupid times" only suit 2 countries.
our timezone suits the vast majority of the countries.

We get to do this again in 2019! :pac:

Your local will probably be open, serving breakfast. If not, and you prefer town and are in Dublin, theirs an early house beside Tara Street dart station that may serve alcohol and definitely serves food and is open for the game, and the woolshed is the place to be in town, on Parnell street, not sure about alcohol, but famous for it's Southern Hempisphere early morning match days, I'm sure it will be packed and have great atmosphere, serves food, not sure on drink, but worth it if you're willing to get out of bed and leave your house.

I'll be doing the usual, calling over to my dad, cooking a fry and watching the game. Epic.

Hoping a boozer will be open for an ale... have seen a few open for brekkie and pint, if one is open in my area I'll be there with a beer... if not... hmmm

"My timezones better than your timezone! Raah!" :)

I'm thinking the best bet is to ring around family and mates to whoevers house has the best TV / sitting room and soak it up. BYOS (bring yer own sausages).

I remember some of the 87 games we on at insane times (3.30) so considering what Scotland fans had to deal with this year we've been lucky.

The players and fans can't exactly have the game at some bizarre hour to suit people watching on television. It's a 12 hour change for a one off WC QF. The S15 already have the majority of their games at night to suit the viewers elsewhere. They get far more of a raw deal than we ever do. Australia had their 2007 QF at about 1am in Australia which meant a lot of younger supporters would have missed it.

As it stands, two of the QF kick off at 8.30pm local time which is later than any game would start if it was held here.

The atmosphere at the matches has been superb, I think in no small part to late kickoffs, a whole evening to warm up in.

Weirdly, I think I'd rather a 1am match on Friday night than a 6am slot.... I'm just not young / fit enough to pull an all nighter. :) Worse is having a few jars on Friday will make Saturday grim, so it'll be a very quiet few.

what would your suggestion be then?

the ideal solution would be to not host the world cup in these countries :)

But in reality, could they not play the game during the day.
A 1am kickoff our time is a hell of a lot better than 6am.

Could rugby clubs not open for members or are they restricted in the same way as regular pubs as regards opening hours. I thought clubs etc could serve at sny time or day of the year. Eg Good Friday drinks in golf clubs etc...

The Woolshed on Parnell St. Serving Brekky.

My OH's 30th birthday is on Fri night so I'll be pulling an all nighter.. though it will be hard to stay awake without the few pints. I had notions of staying up for the Fra/Eng game too.. we'll see.

IMO, they could look into moving matches involving 2 European teams to noon/1pm kickoffs in NZ.

Impossible do change any match time though especially at short notice. It's like the 2 French teams in the HC final in Landsdowne. There were calls for that to be switch to France but it couldn't.

For you and for people of a certain demographic who want to be out with their mates, have a pint and watch the game. I fall into that category also. But tell that to the tens of thousands of kids who are dying to see Ireland play in the WC. Or those who have to work on Saturday morning who have to stay up until 3am and end up getting about 4 hours sleep rather than going to bed and getting 6 or 7 hours sleep and rising a bit earlier than normal.

well i pulled an all nighter for the italy match and the pub i went to had a docker's licence meaning they could serve from 7am. might go for more of the same Friday night ;)

Major lols at wanting NZ to have lunchtime kickoffs in world cup games so as to suit a few spoiled Europeans who don't fancy getting up early.

5:30AM this Saturday and Sunday. I can only assume that they will do food both days as tea and club orange and peanuts wouldn't be a lot of fun that time of day :)

Maybe if there was a stickie thread with venues that are definitely open early for the game would help people plan something out; nothing worse than arriving into town only to find your intended pub locked up :pac:

Only on Saorview. Not on the Sky or UPC services.

Watched the Italy game on Saorivew and it was excellent. Also watched the hurling final - WOW!!!

I've become accustomed to watching the matches on my HD projector at home with copious amount of tea, superquinn sausages and tins.

I'd be tempted to pop my head down to the Woolshed as I'm only a minute or two away, but then maybe I've become superstitious and watching it anywhere else will give us a lose! :(

I think that is morning time or non-drinking time for me.

My stomach would kick alcohol back out at that time bouncer style :P

I've been going for tea/coffee and some toast before getting ready to go back to bed afterwards before realising it is morning time and I have stuff to do.

If one stayed in a hotel on Fri night, would they be more accommodating towards the punter who wished to toast success with a pint?

It could turn out that we're staying overnight in the city, and I'd be interested in going somewhere with a sympathetic ear.

/not sure about hotel licensing laws etc.

Will depend on the hotel. If they had a late bar as well they might be tempted.
