    hi guys,

I consume 80 grams of carbs after my workout , mainly in the form of RAM3 post supplement and a banana. I usually train for approx 60 - 90 mins at a moderate intensity. approx 145 of my maximum heart rate. I am 33 years of age and weigh 73 kg.

Is this an adequate post training supplement or do I need that much sugar in my diet?

Also on my pre supplement side of things would 50 grams of carbs be sufficient to prolong the same type of training as mentioned above , and if so how long before exercise do i need to consume.

    Tnx guys

80g of carbs is loads. Are you taking any protein as well? To be honest, it's probably a lot more than you need.

As for pre-workout, I don't think you need a pile of sugar for moderate intensity exercise. All you are doing is shutting off your body's fat burning mechanism. Your body won't burn fat while you've got insulin floodding your system.

hi , yes 30 grams of protein included in my post recovery drink. 1 gram of carbs per kilo of weight. high sugar. I dont load up on carbs pre workout . 50 grams of carbs 1 hour before exercise surely is not considered a lot of a high activity loevel diet

It's probably more than you need. Unless you are training competitively, and the results of the training is more important than what shape you are in. If you are working out with the intention of losing fat, then that 50g of carbs pretty much ensures that you don't burn any fat during your workout.

You did say that you worked out at a moderate level, not high intensity.

    Hi ,

I suppose it's trial and error. The weight is falling off me TBH even at taking the 50 grams before exercise. I will monitor and maybe try with half the carbs to see how i get on and how it may effect my performance.

    tnx for your reply
