    Chicken, cheese and mixed peppers, no butter or mayo.

    I just need a rough estimate.

    Cheers.

    Any ideas?

    As I said just a ballpark figure would suffice, I'm clueless when it comes to calories etc so I couldn't offer a guess.

    800-1000 roughly depending on how much cheese and if its deep fried breaded chicken etc

    Sure we don't know how big the roll is!!! No idea of weight given, or whether it's white/wholegrain ANYTHING!! You can't expect an answer when nobody knows what they're making a guess on!

    I'd imagine she's talking about those foot long cuisine de france rolls, the staple of the irish diet, no?

    Look, knowing the calories of things like rolls from spar and hillbilly's feckin' chicken is pointless - just don't eat stuff like that if you're trying to lose weight - it's common sense!

    Its nice to have a treat even when dieting and people might want to know the calories so that even though their going to eat some thing unhealthy they can still try stay within their calories for the day, isn't it better that ppl are trying rather then not caring!!!!

    To be honest those things are very easy to have for lunch, not everyone has a job where it is convenient to bring a packed lunch every day.

    I'm a bloke btw, but yes I'm talkin about them types of rolls.

    Knowing the calories of something you eat on a daily basis isn't pointless at all.

    White roll, cheddar cheese, mixed peppers & plain chicken (not a breast, not in breadcrumbs) - do the rest of you agree with the 800-1000 estimate by georgecasey and davei141? Cheers.

    12" Roll = 400kcals
    Cheddar Cheese, grated, probably about 60g in a large roll = 300kcal
    Peppers = Negligible
    Chicken, 1 whole breast = 430kcal

    Total = ~ 1150kcal.

    If you use butter or mayonnaise, they probably use about a tablespoon to cover the whole roll, which adds another 100kcal on it.

    It's not a breast, just chicken pieces, I imagine it still should be in that region tho.

    Cheers.

    Really? Would have thought more than that?

    This report says 552:

    I do agree with BraziaNZ though, food like that is just not going to help with keeping the calories down long term. We all learn that lesson at some stage.

    Is a breast of chicken really 430 calories? I've been completely under estimating!!

    This can be the danger guessing portion sizes and looking up figures online. I have heard fillets in australia are usually much bigger. I got a large chicken in dunnes and the fillets were 350g each. They are usually ~120kcal per 100g so my dunnes ones were 420kcal, but highly unlikely you would get one that size in a roll.

    There was a thread on chicken fillet rolls before, I estimated it to be 750kcal
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055521288

    these were going cheap, others might be larger.

    Yes it's weird that. The fillets in Australia are about 3 or 4 times the size of the ones in the UK and Ireland. Does anyone know why?

    Indeed, a lot of the problem being that figures come from US sites, where portions may be bigger or preparation may differ.

    When it comes to stuff bought from a shop, I tend to err on the worst case scenario because despite it being prepared "fresh" in front of you, these things are not cooked with tender loving care. Breadless and skinless you still don't know if the breast was deep fried, roasted, etc.

    Calories probably all over the place here, but it's generally where I start from:
    http://www.fitday.com/webfit/calories/calories_241.html
    No idea where I got the 430 figure above, I can't find it now :/
    Seems to be closer to 330 calories for a large chicken breast.

    I was under the impression that the plain chicken at the deli counter was boiled and cut into pieces.

    I eat chicken rolls at work. Not the fryed chicken. With salad and a little mayo on whole grain rolls. One roll cut in half and eaten through out the day. I have managed to lose 3kg in 2 months with a training plan. Infact fitness pal is telling me to eat more.

    The roll seems like a good way to eat to me. Good carbs for training
