I always called 'em Ernie and Bert but they seem to say Bert and Ernie in the US. So what did ye call them?

    Ernie & Bert

We should be used to the U.S. getting stuff back-to-front or opposite : look at their calendar dated and their car steering wheels!

They weren't gay. It was common in the old days for comedy duo's to share a bed in sketches etc. Laurel and Hardy and Morcombe and Wise did it.

Ernie was obviously the taker in that relationship so for that reason I would say Bert and Ernie.

Bert and Ernie never even shared a bed though. They only shared a bedroom.

    Its alphabetical

So its Bert and Ernie (well it was that for me)

You will find that holds true for most pairs in titles but of course not them all.

their calendar dates make perfect sense

if you've got a folder on your computer containing a folder for each date of the year, you're going to have a pain in your hole trying to find things quickly with the DD-MM format, but with the MM-DD format its very easy
