Title says it all, plenty of stock in Jarvis.

Seems a good price for branded 32".

Just a quick point (may not matter a bit to most people) but something that has bothered me for a while. Last year bought two 19 inch (i think) tvs from Argos for my folks house, one was a Toshiba and the other an Alba. Imagine my surprise when i discovered that the alba remote operated the Toshiba tv and vice versa! I'm not really very technical so I'm not sure if this if a big revelation or not but i would be curious to know what more knowledgeable people make of it...........

32Av713B seems to be good for both mpeg4 and mheg5...

    see post #138 on
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056096032&page=10

...but I don't see that confirmed anywhere else ?!

[NB that person paid €229 for it back in January]

Looks like it's resolution is HD ready (1366x768), not Full 1080p,
but it's still a good price for a 32", thx OP.

Nothing in Tesco in Wilton Cork anyway. Just Dublin is it?

Saw 4 or 5 in jervis around half 3. When we got home the missus' sister wanted to get one and rang her husband. He went over at 6 and they were gone apparently.

Looked in Maynooth and they were €299.

Really needs to be 1080p to be of much use these days. I suppose it is a cheap set, but its old stock and when it was first out it was 224GBP. It was out over a year ago at that price. So not really much of a reduction. All these things get increased in price and ignored, then after a certain period has passed, they are allowed to offer them at "half-price" compared to the deliberately over inflated price.

Utter plop when talking about a 32" set, unless you're gonna use it as a monitor.

For normal viewing at normal viewing distances, 1080i/720p is grand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,705 ✭✭✭Mr Trade In

it is Jervis only as they have a new manager, seems a lot of old hifi, TVs and other electronics are going on sale, most of it will be half price,I seen some guy get 2 32" Toshiba's earlier for €180 each, may be worth a look in the morning.

No, thats wrong. Well certainly not for me anyway. Ive READ about all these people saying about viewing distances and resolution etc. Well I can clearly see the difference from a normal viewing distance on a 32" set. In fact I have a 27" monitor on my computer and I often watch movies on it sitting away from the screen on my couch. The difference between 720p and 1080p is very clear.

So to say its utter plop is pointless as far as Im concerned. Pehaps you need to get better source material, set your tv up properly and go and get your eyes tested.

IMO it might be worth paying just a little bit extra than your budget to get a really good TV but it's up to you:)

Generic remotes, My mitsubishi remote from my 6yr old TV works with my new Philips. I think its the frequency they work off. its how universal remotes work i believe.

If you open them up you will probably find the same parts seeing as everything is made in china now anyway. apparently there is only a few factorys which make the lcd screens which everyone uses in their sets so i dont see any great problem purchasing cheap stuff really..

    Eh,no,its not missleading at all.

You should carefully read the OPs post and the rest of the posts that clearly state Tesco Jervis, and why they are selling for half price.

That might help you, before jumping in with both feet

OP didn't say Jervis only, and it was only explained later why it was on sale with the manager etc.

Jumping in with both feet

Not sure how good/bad this is but argos have a 22 inch Bush Full HD set for €113.99. No reviews on the argos site though. Might be worth considering if they have any in stock.
