Have you tried calling them and asking, no demanding to be removed from their mailing list?

Send them an email/phone call and asked to be removed!

I also thought of removing myself from their junk mail list but then decided to stay on - the campaign is so bad that it's entertaining, I really wonder what marketing agency they use. Anyone who joins based on the "cheque" they get in the mail must surely be a complete moron.

I keep getting them too. I've started sending the cheques to some of them nice Nigerian Princes who've emailed me, to see if I can help out a little with the inheritance problem.

I wonder if they just got rid of all the costs of their marketing ( staff on commision, all printed BS leaflets and cheques etc etc, and made their prices more competitive would they actually be better off in long run.

yes and they should invest those savings into re-instating the person that used to tidy up the gym floor and clean the toilets... I left when the gym floor became so messy that it's virtually unusable during peak hours while the toilets look like they are breeding new plant species. But instead rehiring some of the front-line staff they had fired they spent thousands on new TV monitors.
