    Good morning all :D

Just wondering on everyone's technique when it comes to an auld sammich, how do you cut yours and how do you eat yours?

Do you cut in triangles and scoff, cut half way across the bread or are you really posh and go for 4 triangles without the crusts (oooo la di da!)

Also when you are eating your sambo do you take your first bite at the corner or do you still dive straight into the middle like you did when you were 3 or 4 :P

Feel free to tell us your favourite sandwich filling too!

Mmmmmm hot Christmas Ham rambo.... *salivates all over shirt*

In before any of the usual stupid and unfunny AH retorts

    That's a bit harsh!

I quarter them but leave crusts on as there's no sammich left otherwise!

Fave filling is a toughie, will probably go for ploughman's pickle as it's nice and savoury =D

Well if I do cut them, it's in quarters, diagonally, crusts on.

Favourite filling? No question - bacon.

Cut once diagonally, toasted ham and cheese... Toasted on the grill, butter outside of sandwich before toasting...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,041 ✭✭✭Seachmall

    Triangle and first bite middle
Mayo, chicken and stuffing on white, cut once diagonally and eaten from the corner in.

Yo know OP, you can just eat it the way you think is best, no need to check with us what way you should eat a sandwich...

    Not enough poll options, tbh.

Cut across the middle, always eat left side first.

Dam, this isn't fair. it all depends on the sandwich.

I'd do both rectangle and triangle. Just depends on what I'm stuffing into the bread.

Thick white bread. Green pesto. Wedge of white cheddar. Cherry tomatoes, red peppers. No cut, just eat :)

I'd like more ideas on sandwich fillings!!

Am I the only one who doesn't cut my sandwiches?

    Cheese and crisps for filling.

I get two slices of bread, slap a slice of cheese in the middle, done. My favourite sandwich just for it's simplicity, and the fact that if you're hungry, it fills you up and takes about ten seconds to make :)

Throw on a bit of brown sauce (and onion if it's handy) and you have a super simple sandwich with unbelievable taste.

I excitably opened this thread expecting some sexual content, but no its about sambos

So anyhoo rasher sambos and brown sauce is a gift from God. No technique bread, butter, brown sauce and rashers, then just enjoy.

I eat the bread the way it is. I couldn't be bothered cutting it.

I like Quorn ham sandwiches or tomato, lettuce and cheese with Hellmans chilli mayonnaise.

Have no technique myself, but I can tell you that joe stodge cuts off the heel, cuts them in squares and does puts mustard on everything.

Triangle, corner in. Fave filling: egg mayo, chopped spring onion, and 4 cheese 'n onion crisps, squished.

I eat it as a whole sammich too, starting with the corner. Do you really like the quorn ham though? I find theres a funny twang off it. Much prefer the chicken style slices. Robbing the rest of your filler though :)

my filling would be: Either what ever meat or chicken I have added with Cheese, lettuce, Coleslaw, Mayo, Relish, Tomato, Cucumber, sweet corn, bit of sauce topped up with salt.

Dead right. Triangular sandwiches taste better, regardless of filling!

    Quorn!?!?!

That stuff should be banned. Horrible

Just one cut down the length of the baguette and stuff everything in there.

The ham is a bit bleugh alright, the chicken style slices I can live with. It's all about the toppings really. I use their 'chicken' pieces in pasta with cheese or mushroom sauces, it's definitely the sauce that does it. I suppose I only buy them for effect, especially around non veggies. The 'mince' is shoite though, if I'm honest.

I'm currently eating their cheese and broccoli escalopes, damn tasty :p

I do like Quorn ham. They're not exactly like ham, but they're close enough. I've never tasted the chicken slices, or even seen them available here.

Quorn rashers taste nice too. I cook them for longer than it says on the packet. I fry them until they're almost burned, then I make a Quorn rasher and cheese toasted sandwich.

I nce had quorn sausages in a toasted rambo after a night out, they did the job tbh but I'd still prefer the 'real' things!

Mmmmm toasted sausage and cheese sandwich, lovely :D

Thank God corners took the lead, why the fuck would you eat a square/rectangle?

    Shit don't make sense, B.

Pretty sure that this warrants a pre-emptive ban from the proposed Bacon Forum.

    Perfect for the hangover!

Quarter Triangles with no crusts and scoff the lot
Hard to beat a toasted club sambo cut in quarters. You have to bite the middle first.

On a related point, I am sorry to see the disappearance of 2 of the best franchise sambos in Dublin. One was the Eddie Rocket club, replaced by a "club sub" which just isn't the same. The other is Insomnia's wonderful egg and smoked salmon sandwich, which seems to have fallen victim to prandial philistinism.

Eat it in rectangles from the side inwards-the centre bit is the best so like to leave it for last :D

Egg mayo with beetroot is by far my favourite filling. yum!
