Can't wait for Rampage fight, will be cheering him on however not sure he is going to win this one, hope I'm wrong. If you fancy Rampage lump on, he is 7/2 in paddypower at the moment, might be more somewhere else.

Wonder will Jones try to control the space and take away Rampage legs with kicks and then move in for the kill late on? Reach advantage could be very telling in this one.

i think the big things in this fight will be jones' reach and rampages lack of speed, cant stand jones, i dont know why, i just dont like the cut of his jib

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,663 ✭✭✭JoeyJJ

Yeah Rampage needs to use Randy Coutore's skills against the cage on Jones, needs to get in close and grapple better than him and land heavy shots on him and put his weight on him and hopefully pick him up and slam him and KO him.

Not a Jones fan either, not sure if the spying thing was true but it certainly looks as if it could be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 637 ✭✭✭pauldoo

it will be interesting to see how jones responds if rampage lands a few shots and puts him under pressure, jones has been fairly dominant in his fights so far

should be class anyway, 3 weeks of ufc in a row :)

If rampage turns up in shape , this could be a fun match up. With jones unorthodox ways though I can't see page dethroning the champ. On the other side of things I hope Hughes of old appears and dismantles krotch check

Rampage is gonna be made to look foolish in this fight.

Nothing from his last few fights leads me to believe he has a thing for Jones.

My money is on Jones, I think he is unstoppable at the moment.

Looking atcwhat bones did to shogun I think he is very hard to bet against

Got my money on Hughes as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 637 ✭✭✭pauldoo

id like to see shogun get another crack, when hes not coming back after a couple of surgeries, if rampage looses the next round of fights will probably be

    rampage v shogun
    evans v jones

Good interview between the 2 here touching on the whole 'Spygate' thing where there was a mole apparently in Rampages camp feeding info back to Jones. Vid below it is word straight from Wolfslair about it, very interesting stuff.

As much as I like watching Bones fight, gonna be rooting for Rampage! (even tho I really can't see him winning this)

Jones just outclasses Rampage in all areas.

The only way I see Rampage winning is a one punch knockout, but Jones will probably batter him from outside his range and then take him down and win by TKO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,323 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

On a personal level, I really like Jones. A little cocky sure, but thought he came across really well on Leno and he seems a gentleman in general. I really don't like Rampage. I did in the past, but he came across really badly on TUF.

Fight-wise, Rampage will have nothing for Jones. Jones will win this all ends up! It won't even be close!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 67 ✭✭lakes1985

jones will murder him, hes to fast and will use his longer reach!! Rampage wont get near him!I like rampage but cant see him getting anything from it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,438 ✭✭✭✭El Guapo!

I'm a fan of Jones but I'll be rooting for Rampage in this one. But to be brutally honest I think Jones will destroy him. Jones' unorthodox style is a nightmare for anybody and I think he'll just go in and methodically pick him apart. I'd love to see Rampage win it but I don't think he has much more than a punchers chance.

Can't see anything other than a win for Jones, I predict TKO in the second round.

Also really looking forward to Diaz v Gomi

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 732 ✭✭✭Xlami

I know it's an old press conference but it's incredible to see how relaxed Rampage looks compared to the Rashad fight. At one point he says he doesn't care if he wins or losses all the pressure is on Jones. IMO if Jones takes it to the ground, Rampage won't get back up. Jones, via TKO elbows or possibly submission in first two rounds.

A lot of the time I get the impression that those two actually like each other and have tha mutual resoect. They just can't be too obvious with it gven the fight promotion, and the fact that they have always and will always be aiming for the one thing

Can anyone tell me who had the highest number of title defenses in the LHW? That belt may as well be made of butter the way slips out of peoples hands but I see Bones holding onto it for a while yet.

Saying that I would love if Rampage wins this!!

Nope, i was wrong, Chuck only had 4, just had to check, Tito is top with 5 successful defences

I wonder if Bones will match that. If Bones does and most probably will beat Rampage, then he will be up against Evans, then winner of Shogun and Hendo I spose and the Machida will want a go as well. Someone has to take him down eventually.

I watched the shogun fight and he just looked lost. He had nothing really, no ground game against Jones, didnt seem to be able to reach him at all on his feet and his wrestling was waaaay behind Jones.

I dont think Rampage will make the same mistake and he'll get in close and let fly but Rampage has his own problems, we havent seen him finish many fights lately and the old power might not be there still... cos lets face it, power is Rampages big plus in this fight.
But my money would be on Bones Jones.... when he fights Hendo, that might change!

As mentioned Tito has 5 defenses, Chuck has 4, and Frank Shamrock has 4 also.
Rampage and Machida each have a single defense.

so it was previously one og the more steady belts, and i imagien it go back to that way with Jones. I think he'll has the youth and ability to break records Rampage, Evans, Hendo, Machida, Shogun, can't see any of the current top 5 contenders beating him

I'm not really classing Shoguns loss to Jones as a loss, i know it was but it was his first fight back after a LONG injury lay off, remember what happened last time? First fight back and he loses to Forrest, is poor against Coleman then is back to normal.
Let him have his warm ups and he'll nail Jones ;)

id like to see a non rusty shogun fight him again, but i think machida and his foot work are best equiped to take jones, rashad has a good chance with his speed too

I can't make up my mind on this one. All logic tells me that Jones is going to just beat him up like he does everyone else but there's something about Rampage that you can never tell what's going to happen with him. Nobody expected him to dethrome Liddell when he did, everyone also expected him to defend his title easily against Griffin which he didn't.

I think we'll really get to see what Jones is made of mentally in this. Rampage is probably the most intimidating opponent he's faced. He probably has a lot more in terms of knockout firepower than Jones' other opponents too.

Got my money on Hughes as well

Sure what would you know? ;):D

Massive Hughes fan, but I think Koscheck is going to knock him out and probably retire him. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,663 ✭✭✭JoeyJJ

I have 3 euro on Hughes and Rampage(returns 60), don't expect it to come in however hopeful as I will be cheering both on. Never bet with the heart however considering the high odds on both I thought the was some value there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,081 ✭✭✭✭chopperbyrne

Watched the countdown show last night. Rampage and his trainer busting in on the guys in the shower and on the toilet was priceless.

He seems to be training properly for this fight though, so maybe it could happen.

Think Koscheck will have too much for Hughes. He's basically a bigger, younger, stronger, faster version of Hughes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,323 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

Hughes is being written off here but I fancy him to beat Kos!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,512 ✭✭✭Oh_Noes

I'm stumped as to why Koscheck is being talked up as the favorite in the Hughes fight. I've seen nothing impressive from him in his whole career. His biggest wins are Paul Daley, Frank Trigg and Diego Sanchez (four years ago).

Hughes is past his best but his performance against Almeida goes to show that he 's still a force to be reckoned with. I'm definitely putting money on Hughes if he's an underdog with the bookies.

Hughes is 3/1 wit PP, Dampage is 4/1. A nice little 20/1 double there ;)

Rampage is terribly overpriced here :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,959 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Put a fiver on PP for Hughes and Rampage for the double to get me 100 quid. I think Hughes has a good chance and i'm just hoping Rampage catches Bones with a clean KO. Ah its only a fiver anyway.

That's a good bet wit great odds, both fighters are more than capable of getting the win

    19/1 ;)

But I agree that's the value. I stil think Kos and Bones will win, but thir prices are too low.

Might look at the win method market

Jon Jones (c) VS Rampage Jackson
    Matt Hughes VS Josh Koscheck
    Travis Browne VS Rob Broughton
    Nate Diaz VS Takanori Gomi
    Ben Rothwell VS Mark Hunt

The Hughes/Koscheck fight is one that I'll be watching with my hands over my eyes. I think Kos is going to run through Hughes to be honest. It's a pity because about 5-6 years ago, Hughes would've destroyed Kos hands down.

I hope he surprises me and fúcks up my accumulator. :pac: Likewise with Rampage but that reach is going to be a huge problem for him.

Only one I disagree with is Gomi. I think Diaz will frustrate him early with his range and sub him late on.

I think Rampage has this, if he can get through that reach then Bones better
    have an awesome chin.
Him and Hughes are good bets here but I wouldn't throw too much on Hughes to win, Kos is just that bit quicker in every area but I think Hughes will be a bit stronger.
Rampage hits so hard that standing within 30 feet of him violates the warranty on your iPod.*

I don't get why people reckon Jackson has such a good chance of KOing Jones.

This is the same Jackson who couldn't finish Machida, Hamill or even Jardine? I think he has only finished 4 of his last 12 wins or something.

Compare Jones vs Hamill and Rampage vs Hamill?

Jones is going to wreck him as bad as Shogun.

    This is my point.

Although Rampage certainly has power, I think it may be on the wain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,323 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

Also, the advantage of power is seriously diminished if you're slow and thudding, which Ramgage is.

He might be able to hit and KO a lunatic who will stand in front of him like Wandi, but anyone with movement isn't getting KOd by Rampage. Jones will have way too much for him here.

Update on Spygate. Rampage said the spy's name is Leonard and a certain Leonard resigned from from MP recently:
Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.
    Resignation of Executive Vice President
On September 16, 2011, Leonard K. Armenta resigned from his position as the Executive Vice President of MusclePharm Corporation, a Nevada corporation (the “Company”). His resignation was not the result of any disagreements with the Company on any matters relating to the Company’s operations, policies or practices.

Anyway, in much more interesting news, a funny interview between Rampage and Helwani.

Good god I just cant go against Rampage.

I think if Jones beats him then I'll never back against Jones for a while but Rampage is the man.

    4/1 FOR THE win. :(

Matt Hughes will be KO'd tomorrow night. He was dominant when the division was full of fighters who were specialised in one discipline, one trick pony at this stage.

Unfortunately Jones will murder Rampage ala Shogun.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,438 ✭✭✭✭El Guapo!

I do think Jones will make light work of Rampage but those odds are really tempting!
I think Hughes is being written off too soon in this fight though. I think he has every chance of beating Koscheck and I'll probably stick a few quid on him.

Ah yeah sure, BJ Penn, Sean Sherk, George St Pierre. Those wins were against one-trick ponies who only fight in one discipline. Unlike Josh Koscheck who is a wrestler and, erm, wildly flails his arms around when there's no takedown on. Which UFC are you watching?
