    Nope.
Ending was designed to keep the angle going. It equally could of been Nash hitting the powerbomb on Triple H. With Punk winning. But Mr Ego himself couldnt do the job. Someone had to. Wasnt going to be him.

Just checked that, nobody got 100%. Super-Rush was the only person who predicted Kelly Kelly to retain but also had ADR and Riley to win.

I think Jay Hunter is the winner as he only got one wrong, Kelly Kelly.

So everyone else got at least two wrong.

Either that tinfoil hat stuff or Punk had a 50/50 match with HHH which got ruined interference and they will settle this in a Hell in the Cell.

    CRAZY I know.

They lost their radio slot or something along those lines, that's why they can't take phone calls at the moment and I think that's why you can't listen to them live anymore. The last two weeks they have been making in-house podcasts and posting them online when they're finished.

It didn't quite have the Jeff Jarrett paper guitar but Slow Mo Nash made up for that. It still had run ins, ref bumps, weapons, texting & the veteran going over.

Double screw over with nash, john, mix, truth involved. Pretty much what I hoped for in the pre PPV thread. Good decision in my view. No better men than Miz and Truth to get Punk really over as a face.

    So after some sleep.

HHH won after 3 pedigrees after Punk kicked out of 2 of them in a 50/50 match. Yet rather obviously the conclusion is it is a:

Damn you politics behind the curtain.

The problem is that we still don't know what the craic is with Triple H. It just isn't interesting anymore and what's worse is that I don't think creative themselves have this mapped out.

I thought it was pretty good to be honest.

Punk looked very good for the most part - being in control for a good portion of the fight and but for the interference of Miz/Truth/Nash he could have won the match.

With the stip of HHH having to resign if he lost, he was never going to lose; so I am simply glad that Punk had a very good match.

I think it is well enough set up to continue the Punk/HHH/Nash/JL angle for a few months on the basis of last night - and, more importantly imo, keep it going to have the final pay off as Punk vs HHH at WrestleMania.

Complete train wreck of a main event (which was a pretty good match until it fell apart). Why did Truth pull out Punk even though he had just tried to have Punk pin HHH? Decent show otherwise, nothing really standout but most of the stuff was okay at least.

I thought the match was fine. I reckon you can count the number of guys who've kicked out of a pedigree on one hand. More what confused me was where Miz and Truth went; if they really wanted rid of HHH, why attack Punk? Why did Truth sto Punk from winning when he had tried to help him win moments before? Why disappear after, especially for Miz, only a few punches? :S

I'll also tell you, Cena/Punk proved how a great crowd can do wonders for a match. Last night, the crowd was dead for the final match and that really hurt it in my eyes. I guess everyone knew Nash was doing a run in and were just biding time till it happened, but it seemed the crowd were not really interested.

    Elsewhere...

Delighted for Henry. He deserves a title run, even though it will only last two weeks.

Ugh at Cena. WWE constantly put the title onto heels, has Cena thrash them, and then wonder why no one takes them seriously.

i taught the ppv was fairly poor overall and the main event capped it off, why the miz and r-truth got involved is beyond me, if they felt shafted by tripper, i cant see why they attacked punk, anyway as
vince is due back on tv very soon
HHH could've lost and kept pushing Punk, but now i find it hard to see where he goes positively from here, considering Punks supposed scheduled match at SS.

and can i just say i'm delighted to see john cena win another title , there is now absolutely nobody left in the wwe to defeat this truly ramarkable athlete (well except the rock and the undertaker that is) but my guess is it wont be long til they feel the wrath of the windmill punching machine.

No matter what when HHH won people were going to claim Punk was buried.

    Simply fabulous.

A genuine effort was made last night to make Punk seem on HHH's level and we get the same circa 2006 reaction on here by some.

i'm not saying its a buriel, he did look strong in the match but he still lost and i think a Punk victory would've been more beneficial in my opinion.

OH! And the Cole-less commentry was brilliant by the way. I adored King's "That was Savage!" line after Punk's elbow drop. Brilliant bit of announcing.

what happened was pretty much, in terms of getting the Punk character over, exactly what needed to happen.

Punk, in theory, should now be more over as a face with people that aren't just internet marks.

he looked strong - dominating the match, kicking out of two Pedigrees (nobody does that bar 'Taker at Mania, not even Cena) - and there's a reason for the feud to continue.

it didn't need to be as messy a finish as it was, but IMO, it got the job done in terms of getting Punk over; as long as it's followed up well on Raw.

    This is key.

Remember HHH counting Cena's shoulders despite directly staring a Cena's foot being on the ropes during the Summerslam main?

Just watched the PPV this morning. Wasn't bad I thought, certainly had its moments. Opening tag match was good stuff, Rhodes - Dibiase was ok, fatal four way was entertaining with a very clever ending, was genuinely happy for Mark Henry to win the title and loved his little speech afterwards. Things went a bit downhill for the Cena match though, not just because of the crappy end but it didn't really do much for me as a match.

Punk - HHH was... so so. They tore out of the blocks with a lightning fast beginning but the crowd seemed to lose interest after it, and the match was worse off because of it. Zero reaction to Punk's mini-spots on the ramp, his elbow to HHH on the table was absolutely perfect though. I didn't really mind the clusterf*ck ending except for the blatant inconsistency when Truth pulled Punk from the cover minutes after they tried to get him to win. I guess they're trying to build Nash up as a monster heel and have Punk go over him but it's going to be of limited effect as long as he's also against HHH.
I really hope there's a long term plan to all this, usually I would think they don't after such an end but last night was probably just a part of keeping this thing going until Mania.

Enjoyed it overall, only thing that leaves a bad taste in my mouth is Cena needlessly winning the title again, why do they bother building heels up for so long only to end up feeding them to Cena who kills their credability stone dead when he beats then in they're first encounter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,101 ✭✭✭MitchKoobski

My guess is the Truth/Miz attack was to further their story, but mostly to give a cover or distraction for Nash to enter from the back of the crowd.

Maybe a poll should be added please

Seeing as the ref is Road Doggs brother i'd of laughed if he followed it up with a shake, rattle & roll. It's not as if it would have taken away from it so much happened in the last 10 minutes I forgot most of what happened.

It was ok overall.. I hate the fact kelly kelly keeps on retaining the title and all she does is scream very loudly and do roll up pins for the win.. Cena winning is just annoying as the other 10 times it happened
The main event was good except I think Miz and Truth only ran in because they knew EVERYONE was expecting a Nash run in so they wanted to 'spruce it up a bit'.

Looking forward to the follow up tonight on raw! and for Wolverine to rip sh*t up ! :D

Why bother with the Del Rio push, if he drops the belt so quick?

Mark Henry as champion - still sounds funny. :D

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,933 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

    Positives:

Mizark Henry is the champ, just hope they dont do an ADR and give the belt straight back to SD's Cena, Randy Orton.

Punk kicked out of 2 Pedigrees and HHH needed a 3rd one after Punk had been Powerbombed to beat him. The Storyline continues but now the focus might shift onto Johnny Laringitus more... okay not all will consider the 2nd part a positive but this storyline can make Punk even if it aint perfect.

The Miz & Truth lose by DQ furthering the conspiracy angle and themain event run in was logical yet unexpected.

    Negatives:

Cena wins the belt again, ugh... he doesent even need to be in the title picture so much let alone feed people like ADR to him but meh whatever

Truth breaking up the Punk cover after minutes earlier trying to get Punk to win to get rid of HHH as COO... made no sense.

Kelly Kelly - despite the growing trend of those claiming she aint alll that hot I think she is firggin sensational in the looks department but does she really have to keep retaining the title. The beth/Natayla push had my interest for a mo but umm nah Diva's = piss break again just like pre and post Kharma.

i'd have more but it should probably be noted I didnt watch the whole PPV due to time constraints and only downloading half of it.

    poll will be added momentarily

Read the results,Feel fairly indifferent towards it all.

Cena winning it again don't care,Mark Henry as champion(even though I will admit they've built him up well)don't care and Punk HHH,I knew it had to come to this point sooner or later,Don't care.

So my excitement about everything since Punk's "shoot" 10 weeks ago ended yesterday. The fact I didn't stay up to watch it or even download it shows me that.

    Won't be watching Raw tonight.

The problem with last nights main event fell on R Truth to be honest. Punk and HHH had a fun match that made Punk look like a million bucks. The problem with the ending wasn't Hunter winning, but rather too much happened in too short an amount of time to take it all in. Plus earlier on Miz and Truth seemed to be against HHH as COO so why have them help him win? I get what they tried to do, but I think it was made far too complicated. Hopefully things get cleared up tonight.

It's funny, I expected to cone here today as to read more people complaining about the real bull**** of last night; Cena winning the belt again. FFS the next PPV is in two weeks, why not let Del Rio hold it until then if you insist if having him loose? At least loosing it in the cell doesn't make him look as weak.

Because Punk and HHH fought back so an angry R Truth didn't care who had to get got

Is liking Mark Henry now the new "in" thing? Just like in 2006/7 it was the in thing to like Cena?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,376 ✭✭✭✭rossie1977

main-event was right out of attitude era booking, only thing missing was vince coming out, getting beat up by shane, linda coming out reversing decision of the match and stephanie coming to to slap linda

this is a perfect chance for Cena to turn heel.
let him lose to Del Rio at HIAC and be reported to have a kayfabe long-term injury.
then at Survivor Series make it Punk, Colt Cabana, Kings of Wrestling and one other Vs Truth, Miz, Nash, HHH, and mystery partner to be revealed as Cena on the night

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,469 ✭✭✭✭GTR63

I thought for a brief moment Bryan would cash in his MitB against Henry. Even after 12 hours I still don't get the finish of the main event. Watching the build up video I felt it looked like Punk was the heel insulting steph & hhh then Triple H stood up to him yada, yada, yada. I don't think the loss was the end of the world for Punk but it clearly was a overbooked clusterfúck. Truth & Miz were also genuinely entitled to be pissed off about the way the tag title match ended. I didn't like how Nash on his own was able to handle Punk & HHH up until the Sledgehammer whereas Truly Awesome weren't able to beat them down even after they beat each other for 20 minutes in a entertaining brawl. Truth pulling out Punk was a real wait why did he do that moment, even when they first ran out why didn't they just beat up HHH & leave him to Punk.

Thought it was a decent enough ppv , enjoyed the Tag Title/US Title matches. Cody vs Ted was ok could be good if they put time into the feud it could be great . Womens match was pretty meh , really wanted Beth to win cause Kelly Kelly is rubbish have never seen her in a good match and has yet to improve even though she has been with wwe for years.

WHC match was quite boring since i dont find Henrys matches exciting (but they did do a great way of building him up)

Cena/ADR was good but just bored of Cena being beaten up for most of the match but them you blink and he has made someone tap out. So who is next in line against Cena after ADR gets his rematch.

Main Event was really enjoyable , liked Miz/Truth run in bar Truth pulling Punk out. I presume the reason was because Truth was probably thinking i tried to help you win but you attacked me. I agree that everything happened to quick . They could have had a few more minutes after the Miz/Truth attack before Nash came in
