    Hi Ladies!

Does anybody else have problems getting clothes to fit their boobs? I am a size 8 with 30ff boobs so need the size 8 to fit my body but usually a size 10/12 to fit my boobs. I read somewhere recently that high street shops make clothes to fit a B cup bra size - which sounds ridiculous to me as most people I know are well above this  A friend of mine bought a dress from Bravissimo in the UK but she wasn't very happy with the fit. Does anyone else have this same problem and where have you bought clothing from? :)

Would you like to see shops selling clothing that is tailored for a bigger bust? 85 votes

My missus is a size 6 with 32 FF/G. She can only get bra's in m&s. She can get clothes in river island no problem. Goes one size bigger mind, but they do fit.

    tight t-shirts.
A handbag strap or something between them can show the definition of the individual breasts without looking like you are trying to show off your tits.
    :pac:

Some things are easy enough to shop for - casual clothes and the like but dresses and going out tops are a disaster for me. The shops I find the best fits from are Next and Dorothy Perkins.

I'm a 32E and fluctuate between an eight and a ten.

I find the worst tops are shirts, and have to pin the gap between buttons at the chest to stop them gaping

Pretty much all other tops are ok, I wear vest tops under v necked tops, wrap tops are a favourite as they nip in at the waist, and you can also get "modesty panels" that you clip to your bra if you think you are showing too much cleavage.

Dress wise, I usually wear wrap style or empire line dresses, with belts to draw attention from the boobs to elsewhere.

I'm a 32F, in one respect I'm lucky in that I've got a serious hourglass figure because it means that a size 12 dress is generally a perfect fit if I can pull it in at the waist. Shirts are a pain, it's really impossible to get one that fits right. If it's a casual shirt, I tend to just get a 10 or 12, leave about half the buttons open, and wear a vest top under it because it will fit just fine below the boobs. Formal shirts are a whole other story - I try and avold them if at all possible, because I've literally never been able to find one that's a good fit on me.

Very expensive but you can get them on ebay, Thomas Pink, and jermyn shirts, will solve your problem, I've about six of the two.

That's what I do too. Well, a bigger size, but yeah :pac:
As for formal shirts... well if I'm wearing a suit, I prefer the look of different types of top underneath them than shirts anyway, so it doesn't come up

Haven't tried them myself, but Bravissimo do a range of clothing for bigger boobs.

I find that many clothes are too big for my boobs (mainly dresses). :/ So nobody wins!

Yeah I often have to buy short, fitted dresses a size bigger because of my boobs - and they're not even that massive, about a D cup. The dresses fit fine on top but they're hanging off me below the waist.

I think most clothes appear to be designed for either hourglass or straight down shapes, rather than the majority shapes, which are pear or apple/upside-down triangle.

I find the biggest problems arise with fitted tops and dresses. I have a big enough chest and a tiny waist compared to it so a lot of things just won't fit. Last time measured myself I was an hourglass shape but I don't know now as I've lost weight including off my boobs, don't know if the weight loss has been universally distributed. I love my shape but I just don't fit in tshirts and anything with buttons. One size I'm bursting out of like the hulk and the bigger one is swimming at the waist.

I did notice last time I went shopping that dresses fitted better and I had great success in H&M. Their dresses seemed to be cut intelligently with having a chest in mind and a smaller waist so I was overjoyed :D

Swimwear is the thing that really drives me mad though. Luckily it's coming into winter again

You'll find a thread here for the past few years, around Springtime, asking people where they find the best dd+ bikinis!! It can be a nightmare! Granted it has gotten better, but it is so hard. I'm an 8, sometimes tip to a 10, and I'm technically, 29FF, which doesn't exist, so I wear a 30F-30FF bra..and find that really, only Wonderbra's give me the support I like and need for comfort. (On a side note, why don't Wonderbra make some other colours/styles other than black, white and nude? That pinky one they have is very, well pink)

It used to really get me down when I couldn't wear pretty spaghetti tops when i was younger, and felt I was destined to wear wrap dresses forever. Most times when I find a pretty delicate dress, I have to adjust it to fit, properly.

(Reading Kadongy's post about the handbag strap...I was reminded of a clip on the Adam and Joe show where they started singing 'Boob Separator' to the chorus of Sade's 'Smooth Operator'...If you don't know the song, youtube it, and it'll always being a smile to your face when you have that handbag strap problem!!!)

    Definate YES!

I'm size 36FF and a size 12! Some of the tops I buy to fit over my boobs get criticized by my mother for looking like maternity tops.!!

Not the look i'm going for :(

oh don't give up hope girls! The lady who said she is a 29FF - I measure the same but usually end up buying a 30FF but find I get no wear out of it so have recently started buying a 28FF back as hopefully will last longer! my waist is between a size 6 and 8 but as of late have to buy a size 10 to fit my boobs and sometimes this is still too small fitting for my boobs. I also find H & M a better fit on my boobs. I am reasonably slim but when tops (particularly shirts) are stretched to the max across my boobs this makes me appear plumper than I am which I don't like. It also emphasises my boobs which don't really require any more emphasis and would much prefer the emphasis to be on my small waist or bottom half. I am considering buying a dress from Bravissimo however prices are a bit out of my price range

I want to know why all the celebs are wearing fabulous v-neck/scoop necklines but all the high street copies come right up to your neck or else cowl necks....all of which are horrific if you have a big chest. Would the high street ever sell low necklines pleeease!! ahhhhh

Just wanted to get that off my chest (forgive the pun) :D

IMO cowl necks make mine look even bigger, and I don't like that.

I don't think cowl necks make mine look bigger, I think they look fine in them.

The only type of shirt that I think make mine look bigger are tight t-shirts or fitted shirts, so I don't wear those.

I am surprised at the two votes for not having had a problem finding clothes that fit. I thought it was an issue that anyone with a big bust had to deal with.

I think she means her boobs make her feel self conscious, so she'd rather not draw attention to them by wearing something that creates an illusion of them being bigger.

Some women don't like having big boobs because the attention to them can make them feel awkward.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,425 ✭✭✭gargleblaster

Having big boobs can be extremely inconvenient, but I wouldn't say I didn't like having them. I like having them, no doubt about it.

Drawing unnecessary attention to them does not make me feel awkward. It's just ****ing annoying. All those comments about how women shouldn't dress sexily if they don't want to be gawked at? That's why I don't accentuate them. Nothing to do with awkwardness, everything to do with avoiding unpleasantness (to put it mildly).

It's annoying to me that someone could be so puzzled by the fact that a woman with big boobs would not want her boobs to look even bigger. That's probably one of my hangups coming out, but there it is.

Having had far too men have conversations with my boobs, I'd never ever want to accentuate them, I'm blessed/cursed with a 32/26/30 figure and many is the time male conversations have been with my boobs, despite my wearing clothes to accentuate other parts of me.

Then I'm equally cursed as I've the big boobs, small waist, and long legs, (I'm five eight in flats) and end up as some sort of amazon sometimes in heels when dealing with guys

Yes I'm blessed to be tall, thin and have boobs, but get beyond that and figure there is a person and even possibly a brain there????

Thanks Dudess, got it in one, I'm very self concious of them. :(
