Looking forward to it!, try to get of some minutes early. Dam 6 o clock games

Will be a tough game, a step up from what they have faced so far I think. If Kazan score early it could be a long night. the longer it stays 0-0, the more Rovers will fancy getting the draw or even nicking one.

    /cliche.

Possibly to accomidate the russian timezone ?

Be very very surprised if we sneaked a draw from this, Think they're something like 50 places above Partizan in the UEFA rankings.

As somebody else said, the qualification, revenue and publicity (for tonight and all the other nights) was enough for this year. This is all just insane bonus territory.

Doubt it all rovers group home games are at 6

Hoping for a draw, expecting a hiding. This is a team that beat Barcelona in the Champions League two years ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,600 ✭✭✭roryc

And yet we are offering strange odds on this. Would have expected Rovers to be a lot longer...

    Rovers to win: 5/1
    Draw: 3/1
    Rubin Kazan: 8/15

Bearing in mind Milan were 12/1 to beat Barca the other night, and 5/1 to draw...

As with the Rooney/ Van P debate there's always a big differential between home and away games, would expect Rovers to be similar/bigger than Milan in the away leg.

Rubin have won just one of their last nine European away games (W1 D3 L5 in that spell), beating FC Dynamo Kyiv 2-0 in this season's UEFA Europa League third qualifying round first leg.

There's so many EL games, they are split 6pm kick-offs and 8.05pm kick-offs. It allows stations to show two games on EL nights. It's 7pm and 9.05pm for the most of Europe so it's not a bad time for the two games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,600 ✭✭✭roryc

Still would have expected them to be higher, would love if Rovers got something from this game but I'm really expecting a hammering if Rubin make an effort.

As much as I hate to bet against Rovers, 8/15 is a massive price imo...

I think the reason why it's on so early is that possibly the floodlights aren't to UEFA's standards??? I dunno. Rough guess.

Floodlights are fine, it's just to get as many games on tv as possible.

Kazan to win 3-0 and Obafemi Martins to become the oldest man to score in the Europa League aged 56.

Best of luck to Rovers this evening. Hope the true Rover fans get something to celebrate tonight, and the rest of us get a good show. They'll do us proud!

Rubin Kazan has sported 2 draws against Barcelona and one against Inter Milan in recent years. My money would be on a draw tonight. If we come out with that I'd be happy.

They beat Barca 2-1 at the Nou Camp a few years back didn't they?

For anyone going (and I'm about to)...

    http://www.shamrockrovers.ie/news/35-news/2195-europa-merchandise

    Most importantly this line:
Please support the club and do not buy from street side hawkers, any garments of merchandise sold outside of the Megastore is not official and is counterfeit.

Got to love the match preview on their Rubin Kazan website. I don't know Russian or why the hell bono and U2 make an appearance (0.46 seconds in):

I'm a bad LoI fan, just making about 5 random games a year but hopefully games like tonight will get people like myself out to more games.

More sh*te coverage from TV3. The usual scripted questions from the token blonde female presenter who doesn't have a clue what she is talking about.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,082 ✭✭✭✭chopperbyrne

Don't UEFA insist on empty sections to segregate fans for European matches?

Plus, it's at the stupid time of 18:00. I'd say it could be full for the second half.
