    Is acl reconstruction surgery done by keyhole?

    it depends on which method you get done.

    In Ireland most surgeons will take a piece of the patellar tendon that connects the kneecap to the shin bone with a little piece of bone at each end to anchor it with this is put in place to replace the torn ACL. For this method they open up the fron of the knee to that the piece of tendon out they will also have three or so smaller holse which they use to thread the pice throw and secure it. So this wouldn't classify as keyhole

    In the US they often use a piece of tendon from a cadavar in place of your own, it's supposedly weaker but can be done by keyhole and allows quicker recovery.

    A hamstring graft is the third option but can lead to problems with hamstrings afterwards, also leaves a scar where the remove the graft
